yeah me too, imagine all the scared poses the photographer would catch!!! it's different, but not my cup of tea!!! i guess it matches the decor... now that's attention to detail!!!!

yeah, i think they're the ones... altho in this pic, it looks more like a novelty thing than anything else. i would NOT be striking a pose with something that slimy. ick.

i think she is kashmiri. cauz the jewellary she is wearing is traditional kashmiri.

yup. i was trying to guess whether she was one or not as well 
so that’s not really a matha patti…it’s a traditional kashmiri jewellery. maybe someone else knows the name for it.

about the snake i red the description it said they had snake charmers 2 entertain guests at the mendhi...i wudnt call that entertainment personally. maybe they were jus posing an tryin 2 be different but urgh

It looks OK to me, at least it has some shape and definition..ts heck of alot better than brides wearing ill-fitting, three sizes too large kurtas..
or do you mean its too long? it looks like it could e made into a trouser suit

This has been done in my mom’s side of the family as well Muzna, so I know exactly what you are talking about. The only difference was that it was the father who would carry the bride over his shoulder during the rukhsati. My nana abba did that for some of my khalas. It is a sweet custom. I don’t expect my dad to do that. Poor guy would throw out his back. 
The other custom I have seen in my family is that the brides where a sehra during the rukhsati. It is made of roses and goes all the way down past your knees. It actually looks quite pretty … and the bonus is that nobody can see the messed up make up with all the crying that is going on as she is hidden underneath all those roses.
