I guess because people think it will bring blessing to the marriage, like starting off the marriage (from the first steps when she is leaving with the groom) under the blessing and protection of the Quran..something like this
I dont like this rasm at all. Thank God no one tried to do it on my wedding. If you want the blessing and protection of Allah in your marriage and in your life then why not actually open the book, read it, and act upon it, instead of wrapping it up in a shiny cloth and holding it over your head and meanwhile doing everything else at your wedding that goes against the teachings of the Quran. It doesnt make much sense...at least not to me
I agree its a rasm that not a lot of ppl have the answer to ... I asked my parents not to do this either at my rukhsati... rather my parents gave me a quran as a gift. Nothing over my head thank you. And I asked someone once and she told me that her parents asked her to keep a quran in a new home the moment they finalized the lease on the house. I thought it was weird what will keeping a quran in a home do, if you don't read it and do what Allah tells you to do in it.

Its not hard to find a silver eye pencil all you have to do is ask the makeup ki dukaan wala..ya wali.
you can find it in liquid as well as pencil..you can also use your silver eye shadow with a thin tipped brush..you can also use little bit of glitter glue (makeup wali) but if you have a had which doesn't shake.
you can also use white instead..because these colors are mostly made to enhance and make your eyes look open and not chimtee..
there are also silver highlighters (the huge crayon like pencils)..
There are so many brands: rimmel, maybelline, etude, annabelle to be on the affordable side...but brands like mac, clinique, napoleon etc have other colors as well which shine and highlight like silver and they rock.

Aww that last picture is adorable mashallah! You both look fab together. I particularly like the "rukhsati" picture, it's a shame that it's so blurry. It would be great to see a clearer one!
