I got both my engagment and valima makeup from Shaheen Saeed. Its a bit tricky with her although I looked good on both days she seems quite rude. If you are a fussy bride and like to give your inputs she will get upset and just tell you to do your makeup yourself ( it happened to one of the brides when i was there). On the positive side she gets you ready in an hour and does everything herself (base,makeup,dupatta setting, jewelry setting and hair). She doesnt like it when brides have a lot of input to give in regards to their looks as she says she is the professional and knows better

ive heard the same thing about shaheen, which is why if i go with her, im planning to zip my lips.
ive also heard shes good with red brides…but im not going to be a red bride. i just dont have any pictures to see whether she is good or not. i’ll take your word for it 
hehe so now my updated list is Shaheen, Shamain, Cistre’s and Nabila’s. I’ve seen plenty of Cistre brides, they always look nice but simple as well…their party makeup is amazing. I’m sort of hoping to look like a beautiful bollywood actress (ie nothing like myself) on my wedding. im just scared that if i go too simple, i wont look good 
Shamain does great makeup on the one bride I’ve seen but it looks very western…ie darker base, natural lip colors, etc.

Shamain did my wedding makeup I liked her and the photos came out great but she made me sooooo late. Having said that the customer service there is great and she really did apologize a lot for the delay but if you do go with her book an earlish appointment so that you dont get too delayed.
I would really recommend Shaheen Saeed though my husband really loved the makeup and thats really important because looking like a ghost is the last thing you want on your wedding night. In my opinion every bride looks beautiful with the jewelry, makeup and clothes so you wont have to worry about looking simple.
yeah you're right, its not that I want to look like a ghost, i just want a base thats just my color, not darker and not lighter...haha but dont we all?

ill probably go with party makeup from nabilas for the mehndi and party makeup from cistre's for the nikkah (its a small event)
The last time i went she was based in Zamzama the Costa's lane. Make sure you book the right one since they dont return deposits!
Shaheen Saeed is overall pretty good.. I saw a bride done by her and she wasn't a "red" bride but a very pretty apricot one..and her makeup was great! A few guppans went to Shamain and Bina Khan and didn't have great reviews :(
Nabila's is great for hair-colors and cuts..
wow u have so much to choose from in karachi. i 'ld love to get make up like the smoky eyes one .. im not sure there's any salon in lahore that could do that.. fasadi u should definitely get that done.

Well, I love Bina Khan's work. Never been an actual customer but still recommended her to a senior of mine. She went to her for her engagement makeup and loved it! People were congratulating her that she looked beautiful and even her fiance came up to me and thanked me. Bina Khan is not a fan of nose rings/naths, though.
Bushra at Nabila's did stunning bridal makeup for a friend of mine. She looked fresh and bridal at the same time.
Another very close friend dropped Shaheen Saeed just because of her attitude and signed up Shamain. She as a red bride and on the chubbier side. The make up looked awesome but the hair was pulled up too tightly to suit a chubby face. The base was flawless and no cracks appreared anywhere.
Haven’t seen a bride by Tariq amin. Last I checked, he was charging Rs. 30,000 for bridal makeup so I don’t think that I’ll meet any Tariq Amin bride real soon.

People do like Tariq Amin and say that he does the best make up. I have heard that he is only available on Wednesdays in his parlour at the end of the month. There is a guy there name Babar. He is Tariq Amin’s assistant .

yeah mahismart, i think bina khan is great for party/engagement makeup, its just that her wedding makeup isnt anything spectacular (imho), its something i could easily get any MAC artist to do here. an acquaintance of mine went to her for her wedding, and she was a girl who was just gorgeous without makeup so we all thought she’d be a stunner on her wedding day…she came out just “eh.” her picture is also up on the bina khan facebook group. i think its a matter of taste, i dont think Bina Khan is bad at all, its just that she doesnt do really dramatic looks like I’m used to seeing on brides.
I wouldnt mind paying a lot for a makeup artist like tariq amin as long as I know he’s good, and like I said, i just cant make the decision based off of makeup they’ve done for models. the photos can easily be photoshopped among other issues. hehe if I do decide to go with him, i’ll put up my wedding pics for you guys!
I think the general consensus is that Shaheed Saeed is good though. Guppies to the rescue!

There was a girl done by Bina Khan for barat day in my extended family and honestly it was no good. The girl and the family disliked the makeover , it was not really looking like a bridal makeover . the family requested for some change but Bina Khan refused.
I have been to sabs , allenora by aliya tipu and cisters and saw many real brides there.
Sabs makeover was good. The girl I saw was chubby like me and she was looking very pretty in red. I met Saba she is very friendly.
Allenora by Aliya Tipu is also good. I saw 2 brides there and both of them were looking good. Aliya is very cooperative too.
Cisters - not my type , the makeup is too simple and light. I didnt find it to be a bridal makeover. but they are very cooperative on the other hand.
I have head abt Shaheen Saeed is that she is rude and she doesn't like to hear hear bride's preferences. If the brides speak too much abt what she wants she would leave her makeover undone. I have never met her myself though.
Shamains is good. Have seen many pics of her brides. But she is pretty expensive considering that she charges 25k without services.
Depilex is also good . Saw her bride like 4 years back she was looking very pretty.
Aliya Tipu has very harsh/loud makeup.. nothing subtle about her makeup. Tariq Amin and Nabila's, Nina Lotia for hair! Shaheen Saeed, Laiqa Hassan or Sab's for makeup :)

Ive seen great Sabs brides, but i think its also hit or miss. sumorani looked great mA but the brides ive seen from Sabs recently havent been so great. the blush was the worst part probably!
I agree on that Aliya Tipu bit...although my friend's bhabhi went to her for both days, and one day her makeup looked really loud and the other day it looked glowy and beautiful.
Laiqa is great.. I just wished these MUA's had pictures of real brides and online portfolio's.
Madeeha's does heavy eyes in Lahore and so does Allenora, they're known for their smokey/heavy eyes.

Got my make up done from Sabs by Saba. Highly recommended, She's not exactly the social type and seems a bit stuck up. But who really cares, the makeup came out amazing in actuality and in pictures, which is definitely really important. They did almost the same dupatta setting on all brides while I was there, and did give me the smokey eye look, which suited me very well. My sister got her party make up done there while I was getting bridal make up done. She had it done from Kadir, and he did an amazing job as well. I found him to be nicer personality wised as opposed to Saba. There makeup style is definitely more today. I have seen brides from other salons, and there makeup style looks a bit more earlier on in the decade type. Only issue I had was with services, apparently since it was wedding season (December 2008), they had overbooked. I was at the salon for about 7 hours, because they had booked over 20 brides for services. Overall, makeup was amazing from Sabs. If you’re looking for something safe this is it. The cost for makeup is about 15-20,000 depending on if it's Shaadi or Valima. 95% of the brides that were getting their makeup done at the same time as me looked good.
