Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
Most beauty parlors in Karachi will cake on the make up. Thats what the majority of brides there want. I can't think of any salons that won't cake on the make up but i think if you tell them that you don't want too much they won't do it. I know there is a deplix on tariq road that was really popular back when i was in khi.
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
Hey Sana, i'm in EXACTLY the same situation. i'm engaged and we're going to have the wedding in Pakistan, and i'm terrified to death that the salons are going to paint my face, and make it look like atta!!!
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
^No one's going to do anything you don't want as long as you tell them!!! why dont people understand this?! If you go to some place in a lower income area and tell them you want to look like a movie star then maybe... but if you go to a respectable salon and tell them what kinda look you want to achieve then nobody's going to mess it up. My mom used to get her party makeup done from this salon right near our house "Qosi's". It wasnt famous or anything, just convenient, and the ladies there always did the nicest makeup without caking it on or making her face too white.
or maybe my definition of 'caking it on' is different than other people's.
Sometimes salons make people look too white because the bride and her family insist on it. My mom's favorite beautician used to tell her stories about girls from lower income areas coming to get their makeup done and getting disappointed when the makeup wasnt as white as they expect a bride's to be.
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
hmmmm, for now u could go to places like makeup counters to learn what kinda makeup looks suit you so that by the time you get married, you’ll know exactly what kinda look suits you and if the makeup artist tries to do something you KNOW won’t look good, you can stop her. vbmenu_register(“postmenu_3949440”, true);
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
just to name a few:
- Cistre's Beauty Salon
- Nabila's
- Saima's
- Shamain
- Depilex
- Rubinaz
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
chiaiman....trust me i told them...i stopped them so many times...even the make-up lady was annoyed....instead of putting on 4 layers of foundation or what not...i only had 2 layers...foundation and powder on but still it was tooo muchhhh...looked chalky and cakey...
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
Hey chiaiman I go to Qossy'z as well, interestin....
I'm sorry but times hav changed in Karachi as well, any where in Clifton u can go to really good salonz, I'm from London but liv in Karachi belive me I know u can try Alenora, Nabila, Shaheens, an like chiaiman said they will do as u want them to do u r payin them u know.
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
I was in the same situation last year (live in the US, wedding in Karachi). We went with Cistre because it's in the Karachi Sheraton (where the wedding also was) and I was pleasantly surprised. They did a nice job with the make-up and whole look and were very well-mannered and polite as well. Some of these bridal makeup places are run by tyrants.
I highly recommend Cistre.
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
chia -- some of the bridal make-up places ignore what the brides want. they also don't let whoever has accompanied the bride come to help out or supervise. i can understand that they don't want too much interference, but many are very forceful and it's unfair to brides, especially since many are already quite nervous on that day.
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
Actually, they're forceful because their reputations are on the line. They'll insist on sticking to their own proven formula and don't want to experiment with a new, untried look, for fear it may not look good. The last thing they want is for some auntie to say "Tsk tsk, her makeup doesn't look good. Who did it? Oh, flana tamkana did it? She didn't do a good job at all."
One reason why makeup is so heavy in Pakistan is that it stands out on the stage and it looks better in the pictures. When a bride's makeup is too lightly applied, her face will get lost in the heavy dupatta and jewelry. They have to put on theatrical makeup so her features don't disappear. Nowadays, though, good salons match foundation to the girls skin tone, and you see a great improvement in the makeup.
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
One more thing...i dont like matte make-up either... sometimes they apply too much brownish make-up/foundation on...and it makes you look very dull/dark and ajiib si...as if someone rubbed mitti all over u or someone jus over baked ya....
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
the last time we went to Karachi was 7 years ago so it might have changed but some lady who used to sit in Avari towers did really really good makeup. i always thought qosi’s was just a neighbourhood salon, cant believe someone else actually knows about it ![]()
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
thats what happens when the foundation is too dark. MAC people lovvvvvve doing that.
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
btw...what foundation do u gals use?
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
i like prescriptives, they'll match your tone and it's quite light.
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
all you gals out there, try cream foundation by SACHA . So far i think its the best i have ever tried....not too dark yet not too light to make me look like snow white... They also give out free samples...so ask them for the samples, try them on in natural light as well as indoors...
BTW sahar did u get ur services (waxing, threading, etc) done at cistres or somewhere else?
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
^ at Cistre. I had facial, waxing, threading,e tc done two days before (the day of the mehndi). It's part of their bridal package.
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
Nabila's is a very good salon. I had my makeup done there for my Nikah by Altaf Hussain. He is a very good makeup artist.
Re: Bridal Make-up in Karachi
Do I have to buy it online or can I get this brand at any mall? Where did you get yours?
