Well they are not really just pawn shops they are jewellery shops as well but independantly run so you can negotiate with them alot on the price. Although these days this is not the case just for these kinds of shops. I just got a ring for my new bhabhi the other day from Damas. Originally it was 1700 dirhams but the dude came down to 1150:halo: I was arguing with him and threatening that I am walking out of the shop and going to Pure Gold so he told me to come back! I mean Damas and Pure Gold in Uptown Mirdiff.

hey **Dubaiwali, **this is Abu Dhabi wali here:). i am fatima living in Abu Dhabi and am shortly getting married. I wanna buy gold sets (light ones) and bangles of gold. I had a thorough survey of Madina Zayed Gold Centre and found out the following:
Gold bangles are not less than 10-11 gms each and most shops are charging 8-9 dhs per gram making charges.
the gold sets i am liking are all 21K since i dont like the typical heavy indian ones of 22K , and light delicate ones are all 21K with making charges ranging from 15-25 dhs per gram which i find very expensive.
Can u plz guide me wot's the situation in Dubai so that I could convince my mom to go to Dubai with me. how far can we bargain on the making charges for bangles and sets, and could u plz tell me the names of any specific jewellers where i can bargain and get a good price?

Gold prices depend on which shop you are getting it from, if you go for brand names then of course it is going to cost you more. I suggest you go to gold and diamond park and gold souk in bur dubai. It is way cheaper there than gold outlets in malls.
