Sahar - since you feel the shirt is too long and considering how many others have now said the same thing on this thread, I really need to speak to Bunto if I go ahead with her outfit…The last thing we need is that baggy effect, which kind of worries me…
I think I put up Bunto’s daughter in law’s pics who wore a farshi gharara on her wedding a while ago, but she also had a very long shirt that went quite far down…not sure what to make of it?
yeah Sahar!! I really like that outfit..its just heavenly...its a toned down version no doubt..but it looks amazing...and I know about the long shirt problem....anyone below 5 4" will not be able to do justice to the design....you need a long torso....and with the long shirt...comes the long sleeves.....(since short sleeves dont work that well)....
ziggy! if there is any pink that would work with peach...its pale pink...!!! peach and pale pink would definitely compliment each other..without the "laraayi".....my personal experience LOL :)
magenta and peach fight with each other instead of complimenting........
Dull green (not emerald or olive)...will work wonderfully with peach/pale pink....
if you decide to go with magenta...dont use the green at all....
Chanda - From what I saw, the peach coloured shade of the shirt in the outfit is not as bright/flourescent in real life. I've got a feeling it could off set the magenta colour in a good way hopefully. It just seems to come across really bright in the picture...
Do you still prefer the idea of the large green border beneath the gote of the gharara?
^ If you're going to switch to an emerald, I'd definitely limit the amount of green fabric to accents...if you make an entire border out of it, I feel like it might overwhelm the pastels in the rest of the outfit.
I think part of the decision depends on how tall your bhaabi is. Several different contrasting colors in layers make you look short...so if she's less than 5'5"-5'6" I'd stay away from the broad green border, and bring the hemline of the shirt up several inches (at least so it hits at the top of the knee). If she's tall, your options are open. Personally, I think it would look better if green was just an accent though.
I have to say, I'm also not a fan of the Umar Sayeed. I like the skirt, but the top is too shiny for my taste.
I think a well cut long (knee length) shirt actually cuts down on the “baggy” effect by limiting the volume of the gharara. I’ve seen ladies in the old fashioned farshis, and they don’t look very flattering around the hips if they’re worn with a short kurti/shaluka.
I actually liked her daughter in law’s dress a lot more when I had only seen the first pic. I though the color palette was more of a dull rose & coral red, rather than the almost melon color I’m seeing in the second. Also, I’m not really a fan of the long lines of embroidery down the shirt, and the chatta patti border and sleeves. Also, I still think the sleeves are too long, and look awkward.
i agree with janab...the dull green/bottle green should remain an accent....if you go with pastels....ie..peach/pale pink..........................
i am sorry..but magenta doesnt do it for me... :(

She's basically 5'3" so I can see what you mean when you say the hop scotch of colours will make her short...I don't think she will appreciate that! Bringing the hemline up several inches might help to dispel the fact that she is a little on the short side?
I was never sure about the green...personally, I feel it would probably only work as an accent having considered all the possibilties...and boy there are so many!
^ziggy..then go with pastels/corals.....considering she is 5 3" the dark outfit will limit her visually....as opposed to the pastels....she will rock the colors!!
I love the embroidery on the outfit on the right. Switch the color palette to the peaches and magentas that you picked out at the atelier, adjust the top to get rid of that weird, layered look, and bring the hemline down a couple inches, and I think you’ll have a stunning farshi
If you look at the picture at the top left corner, I think you can also see what I mean about the shorter shirts. Notice how hippy the model wearing the outfit I like looks…there’s just too much fabric there. You need a longer shirt to keep some of that hidden and under control.
you’ve seen rabia’s outfit in bridal pics, right, ziggy? thats a farshi and her kameez is pretty short with it too. i think sahar is right- the kameez should be a bit shorter because the grace of farshi is in the length of the gharara. and it won’t flow properly if 3/4’s of it is covered in shirt.
i think you should do a regular gharara length shirt too with a farshi. and make sure the shirt is nice and fitted so that, again, it showcases the grace and sweep and fall of the gharara more. Farshi Pajama - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - this has some illustrations
ziggy, i know you don’t need any more confusion, but i just ran into this GORGEOUS peach and the teal/green-blue inspiration board, and man, would it make a stunning gharara!
