Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???

i gotta disagree there… ziggy, it is an awesome set, and i gotta say, it doesn’t work with the bunto outfit AT ALL IMHO. the set is so victorian and her vintage is so different from it. i gotta say, looking at the set, you’re probably better off with the umar sayeed outfit. bunto’s seems a bit on the fussy side with too many colors, too much kaam, too many fabrics, etc.
gah! i dont envy you this choice!
did bunto see the set, btw? if you send her a pic, perhaps she could come up with a design more suited to it?

this pic might help demonstrate what kind of outfit i mean…

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???

Umar Sayeed lehnga is so pretty.

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???

second thoughts: Bunto Kazmi gharara is going to complement your bhabi if she’s tall! :k:

Thanks Femme…I know…I’ve got that funny feeling it will only really go well with the Bunto outfit as well…

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???

SGC- Thanks for posting the pic and OMG, that set the bride is wearing is so similar to what we've ordered. We ordered the set the day before we left Karachi, so Bunto didn't really get a chance to see it. I only recently got these pictures, but i'll definitely be posting them her way if we decide to stick to her...

I also took a closer look at the picture of Bushra Ansari's daughter's wedding and the outfit is one and the same. Umar Sayeed had said that he had created watered down versions of the outfit for others...I guess he meant them probably?

Here is the email that I got from Umar Sayeed, when I asked them if the base colour of the outfit could change?

"This outfit particular image is from Umar's 2006 january collectiopn. It is from his beige/grey pallette. The colour is actually a bit darker than shown in the picture. It was gorgeous elephant grey. And if you want it in beige gold, it can be done in that tgome too. It looks gorgeous."

I've seen so many real deal (antique) farshis, cuz that's all that was worn in my daadial and susraal, and the shirts have never been that long. The shirts have been normal for ghararas, just above the knees. Maybe it's cuz we're all short and no one would consider it. I think farshis don't have the fitted tailor look that a longer shirt would require to keep from looking overwhelming (and I think that's why pakifairy's worked).

As for the colors, I really love the idea of mainly peach, but I will warn you that for some people, that color is too mangni-is or valima-ish, it's not bold as traditionally bridal colors are, so make sure that it goes with her vision for herself, as well as others. The magenta will give the more traditional bridal look. I think both as main colors will look beautiful.

By the way, I am just IN LOVE with that set. It's gorgeous, mashAllah.

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???

peach and magenta r working really well on this bride…

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???

hmmmm did u try e-mailing Umar and Bunto the set and see wht they say---wht if they visualize diff colors and diff dress altogether.....

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???

ziggy ur set and the one from SGC's pic look different though. Because your is smaller--it looks more nazuk and precious to me. Think if has the ability to work with both desigenrs Umar and Bunto--but depending on the color combination--------definitely NOT with eelphant gray (ahhhhhhh that to me doesnt sound like a wedding color...rather a Lion King color)...it might look radiant on shalwaar camiz--but to me its too COLD---reminds me of pollution and London/Scotland in the winter.......

I totally agree Sahar. I have seen many bridal pics wearing peach on the wedding day too and it looked beautiful. But even an entirely hotpink/magenta sorta outfit will look great. using peach at the bottom of the gharara orrrrrrr go with an emerald green at the bottom eliminite this limey green altogether. I remember Ash was wearing a hotpink sharara/gharara thingie with emerald green in Umrao jaan and it looked gorgeous. definitely go for a shorter shirt Ziggy. I just don't see bunto's idea working. its going to slook too sloppy with all that fabric.

The earings are beautiful! And I love the details on the pink beads.

I haven't had the chance yet...I only got the pictures recently. You're right when you say they might visualize something completely different...I don't want the set to be at odds with the outfit.

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???

Sahar02- If you've seen so many farshi's, then you're probably the best person to rely on in this matter concerning the length of the shirt. I've noticed quite a few others have mentioned their concerns about the length in this thread...maybe I need to bring this up with Bunto if I decide to stick to her and ask why the shirt needs to be so long?

Femme - Again, if I stick to Bunto's outfit, i'll probably ask her to use the green to accent the outfit as opposed to using it for the huge border below the gote...you're idea to make the green a more emerald colour could look pretty awesome!

Blushing Rose - you're Lion King gag really cracked me up! the elephant grey is definitely a no no in my book. Thanks to SGC, i'm defintely sure that the outfit Bushra Ansari's daughter is wearing (on page 1 of this thread) looks completely different to the one in the advertised image. The colours of the motifs are much more vibrant in real life, but I think they seem much more subtle in the advertised image and I prefer it that way...

Thanks naqsa, the detailing is pretty lovely when you look at the set up close. The bead are Rubies from what i've been told...

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???

I still like the olive green :( but it all depends if she will be able to pull it off
or you can go with the emerald..as some suggested..but imo.....peach/magenta pink is too tutifruity...and you dont want it to look like a 10 year old girl's outfit.....:)

The set is divine!!!!

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???

^not too sure abt this…

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???

Sabyasachi’s stuff is divine…his clothes are so feminine and timeless.

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???

The problem with that emerald and forest green combined with red or magenta has become quite common recently.I t is absolutely lovely, but I wouldn't blame Bunto for not wanting to do it. I think the other olive green is nice, but I do feel aqua is a better combo with these cooler colors.

Chanda -- that is a gorgeous peach bridal outfit!

Ziggy -- I would not wear a shirt that long, because I'm quite small. It is possible that on a taller figure it will look nice. I've never actually seen in person someone wearing a shirt like that. It is nice to have to wear with pants later on, but I would worry on me I would be overwhelmed by all the cloth with a long baggy shirt and a very long gharara.

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???

Chanda - From what I saw, the peach coloured shade of the shirt in the outfit is not as bright/flourescent in real life. I've got a feeling it could off set the magenta colour in a good way hopefully. It just seems to come across really bright in the picture...

Do you still prefer the idea of the large green border beneath the gote of the gharara?
