Bridal Clothes Confusion!

Re: Bridal Clothes Confusion!

Well, you can get hold of her number form one of the fashion directories, but she is very expensive .

Re: Bridal Clothes Confusion!

Has any one seen the clothes by Satrangi in person?

Re: Bridal Clothes Confusion!

faiza samee’s website is www.faizasamee.com but its very old and has never been updated.

Re: Bridal Clothes Confusion!

Hee hee, meena the home page says hello world and the date is 1969 there ;) I really like some of the black and gold pieces there... Sigh!

Re: Bridal Clothes Confusion!

Sooraj-mukhi, I have seen Satrangi clothes in person. About four years ago, she did a family friends valima outfit–it was a light seafoam green churidar pajama and kurta. It was very pretty for its time, but not to die for. Nowadays, her clothes have gotten brighter in color, but the work is a tad bit on the “jhatka” side.

Re: Bridal Clothes Confusion!

Thanks rani- i saw some pics in a magazine called brides and you and ure right some of the colors and kaam seemed more like movie screen glamour.

Re: Bridal Clothes Confusion!

they never update their websites. the only way to see the newest trends is to get a hold of pakistani magazines. i’ve been ordering them online but its getting too expensive so i’ve asked my sister to bring me a copy of all the newest magazines from karachi.

Re: Bridal Clothes Confusion!

Shazi11,

Where do you purchase your magazines from online? I live far from our local desi shops, and it would be convenient to get them through the mail.

Re: Bridal Clothes Confusion!

Hi Ladies,

I’m in NYC and will get engaged next year. I’ve been searching high and low for a really nice, CLASSY bridal lengha for my engagement party. Finding something even nice that won’t make me look like a christmas tree has been impossible. I went to Edison, NJ, and everything looked tacky. Even the really expensive stuff, it was expensive because of the 5 million beads. I found some nice outfits at www.Sila.com, and have requested them to send me some fabric samples. I checked out the HSY studio website, and the outfits were indeed gorgeous, but perhaps I’ll consider shelling out that kind of money at my wedding, if my father doesn’t have a heart attack first.
I’ve been reading through the posts you guys have put up, and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a boutique in NY, or a good tailor who will custom-make my outfit? Anyone have any suggestions? I definitely want Pakistani designs, because they use pure silk and the work is more elegant. Oh, and in case anyone’s interested, I think this is the one I’ll go with from Sila if I can’t find out anything better: http://www.sila.com/product_detail1… ategory_ID=10

Re: Bridal Clothes Confusion!

^ The link won't work.

My mother-in-law had my mangni clothes made from Pakistan -- a shalwar kamiz. Ideally I would have liked a sharara/gharara or somethign more bridal, but this ended up looking really nice and I was very happy with it. It was a peach shalwar kamiz on very delicate jamewar with light gold and silver kaam. Perhaps if you look for something that isn't labelled bridal but is still heavy and pretty you will find more success.

Re: Bridal Clothes Confusion!

sorry about the broken link. here’s the correct one: http://www.sila.com/product_detail1.asp?SID=1&menuNav=3&Product_ID=8&Category_ID=10

quick question: do you guys think it’s too colorful?

Re: Bridal Clothes Confusion!

^No. It's a nice color combo.

Re: Bridal Clothes Confusion!

can someone please tell me the designer for this dress
