Is this toy crossing the line? I think so.
I thought that potty training doll is too much, but I personally think that this is way beyond line. Is there a need to show your 6 year old daughter the concept of breast feeding
Move over American Girl dolls there’s a new toy in town. Walking, dancing, talking, eating or diaper-wetting dolls will be old-school once the world’s first breast-feeding baby doll hits toy-store shelves in the United States.
The Breast Milk Baby mimics the suckling motion and sound when brought next to a sensor-equipped halter top a child must wear to nurse the doll. The colorful top has petals indicating the correct placement for the doll. Once the doll is close to the area, the sensor triggers the baby to start suckling. The doll also needs to be burped to keep it from crying after a feeding.
Spanish toy company Berjuan Toys introduced the doll in 2009 and has come under heavy criticism, but it is standing by its product saying it helps teach little girls how to breastfeed their own children. Baby Gloton (Gluttonous Baby), just now making its way to America, has many parents upset. Critics say this doll is over-sexualizing young girls and that it’s too much too soon.

Re: Breast feeding dolls
Ewww! This is so disturbing.
Re: Breast feeding dolls
I would laugh at people who bought the doll.
Some might say yeah, helps pregnant young-teens but there's sex-ed and pregnancy-ed everywhere. Why would you spend money on a doll rather than walking down to the local healthcare center or whatever and getting a demo? I don't know, seems rather silly. Especially because its aimed at pre-teens.
If common sense was so common, no one would buy the product and the company would simply stop making it. Supply and Demand would be exercised.

Re: Breast feeding dolls
The dolll was introduced in spain in 2009 and was a hit there. Now they are introducing it in USA.
Man thank god that USA is a very conservative country as compared to many European country as there is a huge outrage against this doll in USA
Re: Breast feeding dolls
and why does a 6 year old need to learn about breastfeeding?

Re: Breast feeding dolls
Not at all. I think moms should be discreet about feeding babies in front of other kids, but its ok. But letting the 6 years old kid mimic the acts would be weird.

Re: Breast feeding dolls
Nomi, its not the same thing. The 6 year old is the one doing the breastfeeding in the case of the doll.
Re: Breast feeding dolls
whereas i can see the potty training doll being useful in actually potty training your kidlet, this is just weird. yuck.
