hey 714.. yeah ive read about that as well.. in africa… in some parts.. bigger woman are desired rather than thinner… and they put ropes on their parts of bodies to stretch the breasts… i read abotu it awhile ago.. so not sure on the exact method..
its just these days.. or in the society we live in (the western that is).. these physical features of the body have too much emphasis.. i mean same thing with curly hair and straight… look at the 80’s as compared to know..
desires and the ‘in’ things change all the time… now we cant decrease and increase the size of our breasts just to be with the ‘in’ crowd…
Funny that breasts which God made to feed babies are now sex objects and in order to make sure they are sexy enough we do surgery which often makes them useless for feeding babies!
Roman, no comment. When did I say that I was the one thinking of breast augmentation??? If you read this thread porperly so far, I have even made a comment to the effect that I am the perfect size, so there! This thread is not about me, Mr. Know-It-All. I know a girl in our community who has gotten a breast augmentation procedure done on her and well, I found it interesting that she got full support from her entire extended family to go for it, me knowing that her family is somewhat on the conservative side.
A woman should feel comfortable with her God-given breasts but if she doesn’t and it affects her self-esteem then yes I think breast augmentation/reduction procedures are a good solution despite their morbid consequences sometimes. A lot of pre-search needs to be conducted on the physicians performing these procedures before a person considers such surgery.
as far as i know , muslim women should cover themselves, from head to toe and specially try to cover their privates, because it is said that women who falunt their privates , on judgement day their privates will be pulled with a red hot tong for punishment.
i know it is hard for women living in western countries to cover themselves like this 'cause of the circumstances, but the least you could do is ATLEAST don't get them ENLARGED!!!!!!!!
why do you think gories get breast enlarged? because they want the guys to look at them and lust for them. they wear bikinis and other enticing clothes just to lure the men but as far as i know , paki girls haven't scumb to such low tactics.
And since paki girls usually don't fall so low, i don't think they need it anyway.....!
I disagree. Everyone should be happy with what God has given them. If a physicality of a person seems to bring their self - esteem down, then they should learn to be happy about it. Having plastic surgery is not the solution. Where does one draw the line at that point? From breasts, to liposuction, to a nose job, to cheek implants. One can use the “low self esteem” excuse for everything. Sooner or later, they’ll end up looking like Michael Jackson.

WOuld you also oppose teenagers who put braces on to get their teeth straightened out?. Aren't they changing their God-given physical appearance?
[/QUOTE]
Funguy, you surprise me by your association between crooked teeth and plastic surgery. Crooked teeth are a medical problem. Crooked teeth are harder to clean causing tooth decay and gum disease. Inability to chew all foods effectively can lead to an improper diet.
Strain on the jaw joints and facial muscles can cause such problems as joint pain, headaches, tension and even arthritis. Deformities of the face and teeth can lead to emotional problems. So yes, straigtening teeth should be done by teenagers for health reasons at least.

And Fret boy, you surprise me with your double standards for breasts. Inadequate or too big breasts also can lead to emotional problems. So why give a biased treatment to breasts?.
Breast augmentation is something to make you look better. Women do make-up, apply lipstick, face powder. There is hardly a medical benefit to applying lipstick, but they do it because they want to look better.
If we accept the argument that they should be happy with what they have, then do we also start criticizing why they apply lipstick or do their hair and all that. No. It will be a silly argument. Everyone has a right to look better if they want to. Admittedly implanting artifical breasts is an extreme form, but essentially its the same. We can argue that it has medical risks and that women should not flaunt their body shapes according to Islam and all that, but to argue that they should be comfortable in how they look and hence should not beautify themselves, will be a classic slipperly slope argument. No? :)
Maybe I think different then all of you but in my opinion God gave every thing to everyone to fit for their best need and work properly because of their body size. things that are given to humans are for a specific reason modifying it to make it look unnatural will loose its performance . take Fruits and veg. for example. if you grow it naturally the taste would be what it should be and healthy but if you use un-natural ingredients to make it look bigger and better you will loose the teste and healthy proteins. same with humans.
it is ture the humans are never satisfied with what they have willing for more then what we have is our nature. in reality we do things not for us but for others Opinion. noone need more then what they got but need more then what others have to Show off.

Faisal, thanx for enlightening us on your dual views. :)

Whats dual about it? As I said before, I think every woman has a right to decide for herself how she wants to beautify herself. If she chooses to put artificial implants, thats her choice. If she wants to avoid medical risks thats her choice too. If she feels she has naturally nice breasts and doesn't need any implants, good for her. Its her choice and her decision.
I know a few women back in Pakistan who don't even put lipsticks on, cz they feel their lips are genuinely nice looking (as Allah made them) and they also think putting lipsticks is haraam. Thats their choice.

You just don't get it do you. Emotional problems can also be a result from all the health related problems from improper teeth. Fixing teeth is more beneficial with regards to health reasons than asthetics. Have inadequate breasts are not a health problem. It's not that hard to understand.
