Cricket matters can't be given in the hands of 14 year olds who jump on the chair watching Afridi hitting sixes or Akhtar bowling at 100mph. There are several factors involved in team's performance. Decipline is on the top in that list.

oh really just look at his test match batting average and bowling performance in recent times wise guy.his over all batting avg of 38 in test matches is better than that of razzaqs,akmals,maliks batting average and his bowling is not that bad either.You don't drop an inform player like afridi just because he missed out in one test match and replace him with a medium pace bowler like rao who did'nt do anything in the test match.

Lets not jump to a conclusion that since he was dropped from the Kandy test therefore he decided to retire.
The immediate cause of this decision does appear to be dropping from playing 11 for the second test but there could be a bigger underlying cause such as rifts with inzi and/or younis, which has forced him to take such step. Remember younis and afridi were involve in a big fight last year in Windies.
In any case, regardless of the nature of his decision, sensible or senseless, bottom line is that this decision is only going to hurt Pakistan cricket.

I also want to clear something else.Pakistan team is not winning because of Inzamams' captaincy.I think Inzamam is one of the worst captains in the world.He is a slow thinker and lacks imagination.I think captaincy is not as important in winning matches as some people think it is.I think talent is more important and Pakistan has plenty of that in bowling and to a lesser degree in batting.

I totally agree. You guys have a crap captain who can't think outside the box. I would sack Inzy immediately, and put Younis or afridi as captain and vice or vice versa. Pakistani cricket gives to much power to its captain and coach. Why should Inzy pick the sides. Ponting doesn't and we are the worlds best. Until Pakistan sacks Inzy and puts afridi as captain (because we would all like to see his aggressive tactics ) then u guys will never be good. What is there to loose number 4 on the test rankings lol????? i agree with u totally desidude. p.s how do i do a poll....

It is, it is, and I am certainly not defending Afridi's actions, either. That is definitely one of the very low-points in his professional career (apart from the pitch-scuffle incident a few months ago). But the bigger part of the blame goes to the selection committee and Inzamam, in particular, a sole person who has the last say on who gets picked and who doesn't. How, why and where is the reasoning for picking someone entirely new to his International career when one is in the foreign backyard where the guests haven't won a game in a space of ten, long, years?

Indeed its the lowest point of his carrer and honestly its one of the pathetic move ever! so what if he was left out for one test and another new player was given a chance, what if that player was M. Asif, right now we hold him dearest ot our heart.

Its simply a stunt to get attention, but unfortunately a very cheap one. He could have showed maturity maybe something like Faisal Iqbal when he was given a chance (2nd/3rd) atleast played out and win the trust of the captain and management.

He did a similar stupidity when Pakistan was in WI, had an argument with Younis Khan when he was told not to open the innings!!! I hope some people remember that.

The dude announced his retirement and you guys are complaining! Lets take a step back. Either he is a valuable member of the team, or he is not.

If he is not a valuable member of the team, then you should say "good riddance!".
If he is a valuable member of the team, then you should say "too bad, hope he reconsiders".

Whats with throwing keechar on a player who decided to bow out? If you are disappointed that he is leaving then to insult him is a weird way of showing your disappointment. Or may be you all want him to get your permission before announcing his retirement and right now feel offended? :p
