Shahid Afridi has announced his `retirement’ from Test cricket. In an announcement that caught most people in Pakistan by complete surprise, Afridi told a local TV channel that he was planning to concentrate only on ODI cricket to ready himself for the World Cup in 2007.
But, in a typically Pakistani twist, Afridi said that he would reconsider his `retirement’ from Tests after the World Cup.

Did GEO stopped the normal transmission and announced this news? If so than that means there is something going on between Afridi and Inzi...or some other players.

But Pak team and PCB creates reason for one to retire…If the news is true than I bet Afridi either had a fight with Inzi or some other seniors.

It's true guys. Shocking interview from Afridi himself on Geo. Said there is way too much cricket being played these days, wants to keep himself fit and concentrate on only the WC.
Whoa, this sort of statement is expected from Inzi not Afridi! The guy is 25, at the prime of his cricketing career, why would you want to pull out of Test cricket? He hasn't been himself lately on the field, I hope it isn't something too serious.

PCB has been treating him like dirt.How could you drop a guy of his caliber who has been performing consistently in tests recently and pick people in his place who are nothing.I think Inzamam and Woolmer should be ashamed of themselves for treating him like this.

See I told you guys..he had a **nakli **birth certificate, he is actually 38
but seriously, Afridi complaining about too much Test Cricket is funny. There is obviously more to it than what meets the eye. I think he had a tiff with somebody in the team (probably Inzi) and is now bhaao-khojing.

Just heard it on ARY one world. Has he retired because he was dropped, in which case it is an over reaction and childish action. Otherwise, we will have to wait to see what happened.
Personally, I think if he concentrates on ODI's it will be of great benefit to Pakistan. His retirement from test cricket is a loss but it was always difficult to accomodate two all rounders in a test team.

Personally, I think if he concentrates on ODI's it will be of great benefit to Pakistan. His retirement from test cricket is a loss but it was always difficult to accomodate two all rounders in a test team.
if that is the reason he is more welcomed to leave Pakistan Cricket all - together, and pack his bags and start playing for Ireland or England whatever he likes, but lets wait and see whats the reason for this strange leave from Test cricket.
