The Irish Cricket Union have been informed that one of their two overseas players in the C&G Trophy, Shahid Afridi, has flown back urgently to Pakistan from Abu Dhabi, due to an illness in the family.

A spokesperson for Shahid Afridi said: “In conjunction with the ICU, our first thoughts are with Shahid and a speedy recovery to his daughter. All parties concerned are hastily working to ensure Shahid arrives in time for the opener at the weekend once other matters are resolved.”
