Re: Breaking News: shahid Afridi Banned for 4 ODI's

he might not miss any WC games

there are 2 warm up matches against Canada and S. Africa. I dont know if those are offcial games but if they count those too, he won't miss any WC games

Re: Breaking News: shahid Afridi Banned for 4 ODI's

Afridi clearly threatened the spectator with his bat. Ok, so he got banned and what not. He will be back.

At the same time, ICC and all the local boards should realize that players are also humans. There should be a clear policy. If a spectator gets up from his seat and tries to hurl insults at any player, upon player complaint, the spectator must be immediately ejected from the ground. If security is tightened and players know that they can get abusive spectators ejected, then they won't have to bear insults in silence (like South Africans or Sri Lankans did in Australia) or the players will not find it necessary to try and tackle spectators on their own (Inzi did it once when someone called him "aaloo", and now Afridi waved his bat). Both spectators and players have a responsibility to remain diginified.

Re: Breaking News: shahid Afridi Banned for 4 ODI’s

Warm-up matches are not counted as One day Internationals..Following is the explanation from the “wikipedia”.

Warm-up matches:

Ahead of the main tournament all 16 nations that are taking part in the 2007 ICC World Cup will play in a series of warm-up matches in order for the teams to fully prepare, experiment with different tactics and finally to help them fully acclimatise to the conditions of playing cricket in the West Indies before the main tournament gets underway. **The warm-up matches will not be classed as One-day Internationals. **Unlike the main tournament there will be no reserve days for these matches. The matches will be played from Monday 5 March until Friday 9 March."

Re: Breaking News: shahid Afridi Banned for 4 ODI's

I think he got off light. As an international player with 10 years of experience, he should've known better. You CANNOT hit, or threaten to hit a spectator, especially if you have a bat in your hand.
