Great News. Let the democratic govt take power and hopefully this time around serve the public instead of their own families and cronies.
The implications for he illegal president are obvious. Time for him to leave Pakistan and its public alone. He has done more than enough damage.
All tha tactics by the illegal president in delaying the transfer of power in the hope that he can cling on to his seat have bitten the dust.
**‘Power-sharing deal’ in Pakistan **
The leaders of the two parties that won Pakistan’s elections have signed an agreement to form a coalition government, reports say.
Asif Ali Zardari, widower of ex-premier Benazir Bhutto, and former PM Nawaz Sharif were meeting at Mr Sharif’s residence in the resort of Murree.
** February’s parliamentary elections delivered a crushing defeat to parties loyal to President Pervez Musharraf.
** Mr Musharraf has urged the incoming government to leave politics aside.
The coalition deal will bring together the Pakistan People’s Party, which was led by Benazir Bhutto until her assassination, and the party of Mr Sharif.
Mr Sharif has consistently called for the president to step down in the wake of the elections.
Mr Musharraf has urged the incoming government to leave politics aside.
The coalition deal will bring together the Pakistan People’s Party, which was led by Benazir Bhutto until her assassination, and the PML(N) party of Mr Sharif.
While Mr Sharif’s party had vowed to support the PPP, Mr Sharif had not previously confirmed it would join a coalition government.
“It was also agreed that the PML(N) shall be part of the federal cabinet,” he told a news conference after talks with Mr Zardari, Reuters news agency reported.
Mr Sharif has consistently called for the president to step down in the wake of the elections, which were regarded as a key step in Pakistan’s transition from military to civilian rule.

Alhamdulilallah. Nawaz Sharif has decided afterall to get his party memebers to take the oath from alleged illegal President. This must have been a real hard pill to swallow to be part of the coalition, especially after his weeks of promising that his party will not take the oath as it will legitimise great President Musharaf.
Slowly but surely, despite the rhetoric, Nawaz Sharif and PML (N) is falling in line. :)
Re: Breaking News: 'Power-sharing deal' in Pakistan
^ Clutching at straws again. Desperate times for the illegal presidents supporters.
Daleel bhai. Why do you believe that stating facts is clutching at straws. :)
Do you not agree that it is a good thing that Nawaz Sharif has changed his mind and will allow his PML (N) members to take oath from the alleged illegal President.
Slowly but surely, Nawaz Sharif is falling in line, and realizing that great President Musharaf is not an illegal President, and NS's PML (N) cannot be part of the central govt without taking oath from great President Musharaf. It really must be a hard for NS to swallow this bitter pill after stating for many weeks his party will not take oath from the alleged dictator. :)
Re: Heard on Radio - Nawaz Sharif New Prime Minister
I know Zardari even asked Nawaz to become Prime Minister during or after their Coalition meeting at Bhurban Pearl Continental, and the news was Nawaz Sharif declined with a smile…
It must be something in the Water at Bhurban…
Or it could be these Guys are not used to the High elevation i.e. 7000 ft so the thin air caused symtoms of Hypoxia…
Re: Breaking News: 'Power-sharing deal' in Pakistan/NS as PM rumour (threads merged)
^ NS can't accept PM offer, he knows he is not even in National Assembly :)
Yes but he was when Musharraf dispensed with him.........IF CJ comes back and overturns Musharrafs all other rulings...then NS could even get his old job back...and finish out his interrupted term! ..............You Think?
Re: Breaking News: 'Power-sharing deal' in Pakistan/NS as PM rumour (threads merged)
I don't think Nawaz Sharif is becoming PM any time soon. But ...
For all his goofy leadership style, Nawaz Sharif may be in for a fabulous windfall. He can obviously see that PPP is headed for break-up (whats with Ahmad Mukhtar and Amin Fahim coming on national television and saying that they should be made Prime Minister). In about 12 months, Nawaz sees himself as Prime Minister by grabbing a disjointed PPP faction, PML (Q) and ANP to get a majority in the National Assembly. Or else these assemblies will be dissolved and new elections called. Revenge is sweet.
Zia tried and failed. Zardari breaks up PPP in just a few short months.

Err no, that is stretching it a bit too much. New elections have taken place, his party participated in the elections, means that he accepted his previous term is "Over". The talk is now only about current post-election coalition, terms and conditions.

Re: Breaking News: ‘Power-sharing deal’ in Pakistan/NS as PM rumour (threads merged)
LOL. Forget about Sajjad Ali Shah, I am more worried for the the recent EX CJ.
Having seen Nawaz Sharif’s kartoots, the EX CJ must be hoping his fate at the hands of Zardari and NS is not the same as Sajjad Ali Shah, and NS once again does not decide to storm the SC.
Like I said earlier, Zardari sahib in his press conference yesterday said that the present PCO judges will be accommodated. Also he intimated that the non PCO judges that resigned in January 2000 can also be restored.
The above is going to further complicate the matter. It is all lip service from Zardari and NS regarding the judges. After 30 days, if the Parliament decides to restore the former PCO and non-PCO judges, the modalities of bringing them back into the fold of judiciary will keep the lawmakers busy for a very very long time.
This has been a great masterstroke from Zardari to rope in NS in the central govt, knowing full well that the judiciary issue will not be solved for a very very long time.
