Gosh! so many flags are waving and so many slogans are being chanted. I thought the sepah salar has recaptured Kargil from Hanuds or retaken Shaksgam valley from the Chinks that the previous Generals of the glorious army presented them on a silver platter. But it turend out that the current dictator has only nominated his successor-inshallah our another millionaire general mr. kayani will keep the tradition of the glorious army alive and one day he'll topple an elected government (may Allah give him the power and the courage), exile the corrupt politicians, put an end to the era of shame democracy, devolve power down to the grass-root level, recover the economy, depoliticize the state institutions and redeem the qomi morale....

At the end of the day the ordinary people, politicians, judges and everyone else always ends of turning to the Pakistan Army for help. With a superb soldier like Kiani as Chief and his boss Musharraf as President, that tradition will continue, because that is where the real power will always lie.

One more pro west general and kiss friendship with China good bye. I have head on AajTv's Live with Talat that China has had about enough of Pak US love. This was a direct quote from the Chinese ambassador in Pak. They are starting to pull out slowly all of help they have been given to Pak. That is going to be a disaster if this goof is the same as Mush.

My my! What a day it was on 2 Oct 2007, and I didn't find time to post in this thread. The games life plays! :D
Like in 1998 Gen Musharraf told Gen Jehangir Karamat after learning of his forced resignation and his own appointment in his place as COAS; "...happy for myself, sad for you..."
I'm sad that Gen Musharraf would be leaving the COAS slot, removing the uniform because this is not as simple as getting naked from any other attire and he being the COAS rather than anyone else matters much right now.
But, I'm also glad that a new beginning is in sight. A highly competent General has been appointed, he's extremely processional, highly educated, and was promoted strictly on merit (Though without any bird).
That's another good move that shall hopefully favour Musharraf when history is written.
I hope Gen Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani is beneficial for Pakistan, and all those who hold Pakistan supreme.

Actually, when I saw his picture the first time I had the same feeling, keeping in view the history And I felt Gen Tariq Majeed looked more soft or easy to work with than him. But looks aren’t the whole story after all!
He does have a good charming image, in a no nonsense sort of way and does look like he must have a commanding personality.

In that case the feeling must be taken seriously! But I too hope that doesnt happen! But I wonder minerva, like you say he’s soft spoken, is he a commanding serious no nonsense personality?

did he supercede any general? like musharraf (ali kuli) and zia too did supercede other generals normally the head of state or government promotes his confidant or whom he has no fears of overthrowing him or interefering but our hsitory tells us that bhutto made a blunder and eventually lost his life my promoting zia and nawaz by promoting musharraf lost his government.
would the apdm object to his appointment??? will they accuse the PPP of endorsing his appointment???

he was the 2nd senior most elligible Lt Gen (2 others were senior but ineligible due to already being on extension and never having commanded a Corps), and there has been no supercesion in that regard.
Lt Gen Tariq Majeed was 1 term senior and he too has been promoted 4 star.

Whether he takes it over or not; looks like he's been running things for a while now and no one has had a clue. Democratic shemocratic. Its all about who's the best person for the job, which Pakistanis living in Pakistan are not very qualified to pick anyway.
We can waste our time arguing about whatever. Facts are that Mush is really in power, WILL stay really in power, this guy is pulling strings from behind the scenes and MIGHT be pushed to be leader after Musharraf gets taken out by the Americans once we don't need him anymore.

but sir..to be honest ..i consider you Pakistani..not American....
