One of the conditions of his offer:

Pakistan say Darrell Hair’s e-mail to the game’s governing body, in which he offered to resign for $500,000, represents a “moral victory” for them.
The tourists believe it strengthens their case against the ball-tampering and disrepute charges against captain Inzamam-ul-Haq after the fourth Test.
“This makes a strong case for us to be cleared,” team manager Zaheer Abbas told the BBC Asian Network.
“We were very confident that we hadn’t tampered with the ball.”
He added: “We didn’t like the way the whole thing was projected to the world. It has also vindicated our case.”
Hair and fellow umpire Billy Doctrove penalised Pakistan five runs and allowed England to choose a replacement ball after they deemed the previous one to be illegally altered by the tourists.
Pakistan staged a sit-in after tea, which led to the officials deciding they had forfeited the game.
Now Abbas believes those actions have been vindicated and says his side could contest the decision to award victory to England.
“This also proves our protest on the fourth day of the final Test was legitimate,” he said.
"This is a moral victory for us, and it’s good that now this issue can reach its conclusion.
“As for whether we need to revisit the result of the match, we’ll have to discuss it with the parties concerned.”

Yes Hair did a stupid act and made fun for himself this way apart from weakening his position in that case against Pakistan. But I suspect ICC is too innocent in leaking this email just because it will be leaked by anyone else sooner or later. There is more to the story than it meets the eye. And I am quite sure we have not heard the last in this resigning issue.

thats what speed said, that PCB was going to release it anyway…ICC is not saint in being releasing the letter its just that malcom speed will save his A^% before hair’s

Just heard on BBC that Hair was supposed to officiate a county match but he is not doing it bcoz the county has declined to give guarantees for his safety.

Another interesting thing is that Speed says he had discussed with Hair of his decision to make the e-mail public.
