Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
Excellent decision and good courage shown from BCCI.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test

I dont think it's courage per se. BCCI bullied ICC just as Australians bully other teams and umpires in the field. It's called playing hard and fair.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
Its all about money. ICC bosses cannot make billions (while they do nothing) without BCCI.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
finally ICC comes to its senses…and good courage shown by BCCI :k:
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
Good stance taken by the BCCI.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
BCCI has become a mafia organization throwing is clout around
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
^^
Why has it become a mafia organization. It has stood up for its players. It has done the right thing. India cannot continue to play against 13 players.
It is time that we stood up for justice and make sure that our voice is heard.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
Hair tells Bucknor: I know how you’re feeling
haha :hehe:
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
but seems like Indian players are still acting like ROOTHEE HOIE, NAYEE NAWAILEE DULHAN
Indian players still reluctant to move on
While removing the Bucknor seems quite a fair ask from India, clearing Bhajji of all charges seems a little overboard. ICC process is in place and that will take care of it. Indian players should move on…
BTW, Sanjay Manjnakar is right on the money, as always !

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
Indian players are probbaly miffed about Proctor not taking their word for gospel in the inquiry.
Anyway they got most of what they wanted out of icc, so they should move on.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
Thats a good news. They should appoint Aleem Dar for the next Test, will do a good job.
Its good to see the players were united to force the decision even though BCCI was listening to Aussies instead of their own team.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
Good for India. Bucknor may not be an evil person like Hair however India suffered alot at the hands of Bucknor on numerous occasions in the last 5-6 years. It was time for BCCI to register their strong protest against him.
Hopefully all this will convince ICC to permanently implement players referral system to challenge a controversial decision.

Here's the thing about Harbhajan....
Regardless of whether Harbhajan actually said anything racist or not, the fact of the matter is - that the officials on the ground (Umpires) have said that they did not hear anything. The mikes on the ground also picked up nothing.
So basically , Procter is prosecuting Harbhajan based on "he-said,she-said" evidence. To ban a player for 3 Tests on such flimsy evidence is uncalled for.
And as regards the Aussies - as Akram said - the Aussie players invented sledging and wrote the manual to "How to abuse and talk nasty to your opponents"....while the Indian players are still learning the ropes.....and for the Aussies to now turn around and behave like cry babies is ridiculous.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
While it creates a bad precendence, my view is that we should look beyond precendence and to do what is right. Looking at the replays of Sydney test, Bucknor's umpiring was clearly below standard. I never thought of Bucknor as a great umpire, but considering he is in the Elite panel and has the most tests, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he may have other problems weighing on his mind and he lost his concentration (several times during the game, and mostly just against the Indian team). As such it will be wrong to force him to keep umpiring in the 3rd test, when he is clearly not at his best.
If it becomes a pattern, and teams start refusing to accept neutral umpires, then ICC will have an impossible job to do. Umpires will give decisions on the field to avoid alienating a team that has the stronger say in their appointment. So hopefully this will not be taken as a wrong precedence.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
Two things are evident from this whole fiasco.
ICC officials have been racist all along. There is a long hiastory of punishing coloured players for misconduct and neglecting similar offences all together from aussies. However, with BCCI being the major financial player they have to accomodate indian views as well.
While the Oval fiasco was going on many of our Indian friends on this site and on BBC site sided with the aussies, while Pakis have supported them.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
^ I think its absolutely the wrong approach to suggest anyone should support or oppose anyone based on nationalist (Indians/Pakistanis etc) or ethnic basis (you are desi so you should always support/oppose a desi).
Whatever happened to "do the right thing" and "support what is right"? We should support what we believe is right, rather than "support another desi".
In case of Oval, Darrel Hair unfairly (without proof) tarnished Pakistan team's reputation by ruling that ball is deliberately tempered. His decision to call off the game was technically correct, however, since it was a fall-out of an earlier wrong decision so the whole thing was deemed unfair and wrong. In this case, in Sydney test, it is blantantly clear that umpiring decisions were below par on several instances so Indians are rightfully indignant. I am not commenting anything on the Bhajji racial slur issue, since its not clear what evidence was used by Proctor to make his ruling. I'll be curious to know what happened in the hearing, since apparently there is no direct evidence. My guess is Bhajji admitted to saying what Aussie's are claiming but Bhajji suggested that he didn't mean any harm in whatever he said. And since Proctor disagreed with Bhajji's position so he imposed the penalty.
I'd be shocked if it turned out (real possibility) that Aussies claimed Bhajji said some thing, Bhajji claimed he never said it, and Proctor chose to trust Aussies and not Bhajji. That will be clear racism, if thats the way it happened.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
^^ That is the whole issue of contention with the Indian team. Bhajji continues to deny having used the term, and Tendulkar maintains Bhajji never said it. Tendulkar is upset because Proctor chose to take the Aussies word over his and Bhajji's. Hence the text message he sent to Pawar recommending a boycott of the Perth test.
Re. why Proctor would make such a uling based on hearsay and lacking real evidence, I dont think it is racism as much as stupidity. This is the same guy who ruled Yuvraj innocent on the dissent charge and then later retracted after his boss (Speed) had publicly expressed disappointment. This ruling may just be his way of trying to get back into Speed's good books, though I think he probably caused more problems for his boss this time.
Re: BREAKING NEWS: Bucknor removed from Perth Test
It is a well known fact that most goras hate it to work for or serve the browns. With the Asian teams (India Pak Sri Lanka, even BD) wanting to exert their due maximum clout, the goras by 2nd nature react.
And Afro-Americans resent the browns as much if not more when it comes to being powerful. They know they themselves are much much farther away in achieving such equality with the goras and that leads to resentment when browns leapfrog.
This happens in all sphere of activity and we are just witnessing the beginnings of it in cricket.
From what I have read of ponting and tendy, I will take the latter's word over ponting.
