^ The batsman was recalled after replays. The Umpire did not rely on Dhoni's words to make the decision. Same thing should have happened in the last test with the Aussies but it did not.

thats right. My point was that it has nothing to do (or very less to do) with Ponting or Clarke. Sometime (in fact many times) it happens that fielder is unable to detect if the ball has been grounded (or bounced) and he thinks that he took the catch cleanly. Its the duty of umpires to decide.
If we go by indian media of calling ponting a "cheater", Dhoni is also a cheater as he never told umpire that he grounded the catch. He should have stopped Pieterson right there when he was walking but he decided to keep his mouth shut

Kya baat hai aap ke Decent bhai…kanh say dhoond nikala ye cheater and why didn’t this time Dhoni got banned like Rashid? Oh well PCB is not too powerfull but one thing is sure there is no one as innocent as Pakistani cricketers.
