Brave sons of New York

An article from CNN. I salute the brave souls of NYFD who entered the WTC without caring about there lives! These guys are real martyrs! Not the the idiots who slammed those planes in the buildings killing innocent people.

NEW YORK (AP) — Recovery workers have retrieved the remains of as many as 10 more firefighters, including one of the fire department’s highest-ranking victims of the World Trade Center attack, officials said Thursday.

Assistant Chief Donald Burns, 61, was among seven firefighters found late Wednesday or early Thursday, said firefighter Mike Prendergast, a department spokesman. The remains of what appeared to be another three firefighters were discovered Thursday evening, he said.

Two civilians also were found, Prendergast said.

Burns was setting up a command post when the trade center’s south tower collapsed. He had been cited for valor five times during his 39-year career.

His remains were found along with personal possessions and were identified using dental records, department spokesman Frank Gribbon said.

Workers have been excavating the last mountain of debris at the site, a six-story heap where the south tower once stood.

Recovery crews at the twin towers complex have said they believe so many remains are being found in the south tower pile because the 110-story building collapsed first, leaving those inside little time to escape.

The fire department lost 343 members in the Sept. 11 terrorist attack. The remains of about 160 have been recovered and identified.

When the remains of uniformed officers are found in the rubble, recovery efforts are temporarily halted and the remains are removed on a stretcher covered with an American flag while colleagues salute.

Whatever happened to your aspiration to found a new religion? **

I saw a documentary show on these fire fighters, which filled my eyes with tears. They have set excellent examples by risking and scarificing their lives for others.

haan Saari Aqal Allah taalah nay tumharay ander daal di hay naa! No justification of your point of view and just go call someone an F.I?

IS that what your parents taught you?

I agree with u ali, those fire fighters are true martyars, they died in trying to save people's lives, not in trying to kill themm
I wonder you are receivig rude comments for posting such a nice thread.

I miss the twin towers.

Those are the martyr’s & ghazi’s we should be more concerned about. Those are the martyr’s & ghazi’s more salute worthy then any kafir.

The acts of the firefighters and policemen was noble indeed, but in my eyes they are nowhere as noble and brave as the selfless acts of the palestinian youth.

Israeli occupation is oppressing the Palestinian society without any exceptions. Most to suffer are the children.

The ugliness of oppression and injustice against the Palestinians can not be hidden from the Palestinian kid. Palestinian parents try their best to bring up their children in a normal environment but they can not. Israel’s ability to touch every aspect of their lives is far more dominant.

“The Palestinian does not have a childhood” says the mother of Faris Odeh. “How can you teach your child about the goodness of human nature, if all he sees is the worst examples of human beings”.

Palestinian workers are prevented from working to feed their families. Those workers have children. Israeli army is always around Palestinian villages and cities. In many occasions the Israeli army stations itself in front of schools and play grounds. The army sometimes closes Palestinian schools.

It might be rare to find a nine years old child with strong political opinions, not in Palestine. By nine, Palestinian children start to sympathise with Fateh, Hamas or others. Of course, these organsations do not entertain children. Palestinian children -as all children around the world- dream about becoming adults. They are ready to do anything to prove their “adulthood”.

Young Palestinian protesters engage themselves daily with the Israeli occupation army. Children copycat their elder brothers. They start throwing stones at Israeli soldiers stationed in their cities and in front of their schools. Israelis do not discriminate. Scores of children were killed during the Intifada.

“I am not afraid” answers Rami al-Kalha. “Of course I get afraid facing the Israelis. But I feel pretty good when I get the soldiers really irritated.” He continues as he points at the Israeli army post. “They are cowards. They hide behind cement blocks with machine guns. We have only stones.” “But, they can kill you if they want to”. “Maybe. Only God decides life and death. Anyhow they killed Mohammed al-Dura. I prefer dying throwing stones”.

Palestinian psychologists face a daunting task. In an interview with French TV. One expressed his inability to help those children in believing in the goodness of every human being. He and colleagues go around schools trying to help those children. “The problem is they think that they do not have a problem”.

Faris Odeh is a thirteen years old boy. Faris became world famous when he faced an Israeli tank in Gaza. “I am proud of him” Faris mother said. “I try to tell him that it is too early for him to throw stones. He does not listen. I can not watch him all the time”. We heard about Faris later on. Faris was killed in a different incident on November, 8th.

“When will you stop throwing stones?”. Rami answers “When there is Israel no more. When all Palestine is free. Then I will stop throwing stones”.

Palestinian children live in poverty. They lack the games and toys other children take for granted. They see their parents suffering the hardships and humiliation imposed by Israel. It is only natural for any human being in such conditions to stand up and demand a different life. Israel is the one to blame for driving the Palestinian children to despair and hate.

ummmm!
Would you mind telling me the relationship Palestinians have with New York fire fighters?

I respect the csuse of the Palestinians. But in my eyes these fire fighters have a much more recpect than those Suicide bombers. These guys died saving lives and not taking several innocent away! Agreed that there cause is just, but you cannot agree that innocent peopled dont die in these acts.

And please stop calling people kaaafirs just because they are of a different Faith. Islam teaches to give respect to other faiths! Such thinking like yours just shows that how ignorant can some people be! May Allah show you the right path!

I am just wondering will all this rock throwing ever liberate Palestine? Or Palestinian's need to do what Isrealis did! Get educated establish lobbies in influential countries and hit the enemy where it hurts the most!

Ali Beta, is this what your parents thought you how Isreal was created? Then you have to read the history once again.

I agree with you, there is no relatioship & comparison of Palestinain Martyrs with the NYFD personals who died in the line of duty.

AstgfirAllah, what a crime it is to call kafirs shaheed. The Shuhaada hold the highest place in the eyes of Allah and, receive his love and blessings in abundance inshallah.

These kafirs who ran into the WTC are not shaheed - good actions are nothing without Aqeedah.

I know how Isreal came into being and how the jewish armies occupied the holy land. But the question is why are they still there? Thats because they have lobbies in America who support them! They get there arms from America! They get there moral support from America!

If Palestinians get educated and fight this war the same way instead of just throwing rocks. I think they have a good chance of getting liberated!

It is Morons like you give my beautiful faith of Islam a bad name! First of all I never called them a 'shaheed' anywhere. And if you DO consider people with other faiths Kaafirs, why do you live in there land anyway. England is native to English who mostly are 'kaasifs' as you said! What a hypocrite! Go Back to Pakistan then! Learn to repect other Faiths my friend!

The term 'martyr' is also a word in English. And used very often for people who die in the line of duty.

And if you dont call these people, do you give the honour of the words such as 'martyrs' and 'warriors of Allah' to people who killed so many people in those buildings. Is that what Islam teaches? People like you should be treated like the way Taleban was treated in Afghanistan.

I just can't believe the ignorance of some people! May Allah show you the right path!

Actually there are quite a few educated Palestinians - Edward Said, Hanan Ashrawi, Ismail Zayid, Rasha Atallah, and many others. True we have our work cut out for us in terms of lobbying, etc., but to say outright that “If Palestinians get educated” sort of overlooks the fact (in my opinion) that there ARE respected, educated Palestinian voices out there. We need to acknowledge the courageous work that they selflessly do.

No one hate me, just my two cents

I absolutely agree with you. The palestinian libersation movement has a lot of great educated minds like Hanan Ashravi. But Nadia, my point is that enough against Jewish opponents who have deeply been involved everywhere in US now? I mean look at the US government. Its so influenced by the Jewish lobby. Do we have any Palestinian influence there. NO! Thats why Isreal gets away with so much!

Those who do not have the courtesy to recognize courageous men just because they disagree with their ideologies are the biggest cowards in my eyes.

Regardless of how you feel about US or its policies, how you feel about Israel and Palestine, you have to give the thumbs up to those brave men who risked their lives to save others. And while doing their job lost their own lives.

Indeed, hats off to the N.Y.F.D!

Hey Godfather, I dont see him calling anyone a shaheed? What relevance does mentioning the cause of palestinians has over here? The only reason why you mentioned palestinians is that you are jealous of the Americans; not because you care about Muslims... I think you should worry about your own Pakistani Muslims brothers than ur Osamas and other Arabs who treat Pakistanis like dirt. btw, arent you the one who sides with Hindus when it comes to Musharraf bashing? You yourself said that its unIslamic to side with the non-Muslim enemies...

Did you know what happened when fire struck Islamabads oldest building? The fire fighters were late (as usual) and didnt know how to deal with fire of such magnitude. Heck, they didnt even try. Maybe we can learn something from those american fire fighters, but alas! you think learning from them is haraam!! haha

Like it or not buddy, but nowadays most of the good stuff is coming from Non-Muslims, and instead of learning from them, people like you urge disruptive tendencies in Muslims and instead of telling them to become an intellect you guys force them to destabalize governments so that you could put a Caliph in place. This is not how such wars are won buddy.

Do you think the Palestinians are doing themselves any good by these last minute suicide bombings? All they do is disrupt peace talks, and these peace talks and cease fires are more important for the people of Palestine than Israel, for they are being crushed, and your cowardly brother osama made sure that no one in the world will raise a voice against the Israelis now. What a hypocrite...

Now go ahead and deny everything, like you did after you said appreciated the slaying of that Wall Street journalist...
