FALLUJAH, Iraq - Attackers lobbed two grenades over a wall and into a compound of U.S. troops in Fallujah on Thursday, wounding seven soldiers just hours after they had opened fire on anti-American protesters, a U.S. intelligence officer reported.
None of the injuries to soldiers of the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment was life-threatening, said Capt. Frank Rosenblatt, 26, of Hampton, Va.
The troops inside the former police station opened fire on men seen fleeing the area, but no one was captured or believed hit, said Rosenblatt, whose 82nd Airborne Division is handing over control of Fallujah to the 3rd ACR.
The 1 a.m. attack Thursday came after soldiers in the compound and in a passing Army convoy opened fire Wednesday on anti-American demonstrators massed outside, killing two and wounding 18, according to hospital officials.
Residents of Fallujah said they had heard relatives of victims vow to avenge Wednesday’s shootings.

I'm sure we will see more of these types of attacks. These occupying terrorist forces deserve it.

Because they overthrew Saddam, right on Fret.

No, it's for doing the same as Saddam and trying to impose their will on the Iraqi people.
If the townspeople don't want US troops around, why should US troops stay there? When you're in a place where the locals don't want you, that means you're not liberating, you're occupying.
The town of Fallujah continues to resists the American occupiers, providing inspiration to others in Iraq. The resistance is already scaring off the American’s…
According to that article: "Third Infantry soldiers moved into Fallujah in early June, after units from the 82nd Airborne, followed by the 3rd Armored Calvary Regiment, faced a series of attacks. Blount said the number of attacks on his soldiers there has fallen from 20-25 a week about two months ago to zero this week. The key to providing security there, he said, was working more closely with local leaders.
“We listened to what their concerns were,” he said.
Sounds like the Hussein supportors (er, sorry… the “resistance”) have scaled down their attacks, as opposed to scaring off the American’s.

Hopefully they boot the U.S. out, then they can get a good old fashion Afghan. style civil war on.

Tsk, tsk sour grapes.
The only thing the Iraqi people will get when the occupiers are gone, is true liberation.
Sour Grapes, at what? True liberation will come when the U.S. leaves huh? And all the fractions in Iraq will get along with one another, is that how your fantasy goes? The fact is if U.S. left Iraq it would fall into a dark hole of civil warfare that the rest of the world would ignore.
You try reading the full article, especially this part:
*"The attack happened at about the time that Maj. Gen. Buford C. Blount III, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, was telling reporters at his Baghdad headquarters that a decline in attacks had enabled him to reduce troops in Fallujah by 50 percent. *
and
Blount said the number of attacks on his soldiers there has fallen from 20-25 a week about two months ago to zero this week.
The one you are talking about that scared the American's away didn't have anything to do with this redeployment.

At the fact that the Iraqi people be they Sunni or Shia are resisting your forces, instead of being happy with their presence. No wonder you had to appoint a "governing council" composed entirely of exiled Iraqi's, and one that has been condemnded by local Iraqi's.
The rest of your doom and gloom over Iraq's future is not based on fact but scare stories to justify your crumbling occupation.
Again, this happened after the reduction in forces was announced. Your anti-American obsession clouds your judgment. Your fixation for posting smilies over (preceived) American failures tells a lot about the bias of your posts.
