PCG, don't let people put you down. You are a doctor! A highly accomplished individual who is still fairly young at 30. Yes, you want to get married, what's wrong with that! Your mistake is that you wait for people to come to you instead of vice versa. There are amazing men on rishta sites too. Try Quran.com as well. And look through the male profiles and contact the ones you like, You shall be amazed by the response, IA.
I know multiple women who found rishtas on matrimonial sites, all at least 29 or above and all managed to marry accomplished and good individuals.
In a mosque there should be a rishta drop box system . A profile fill out form . Not more than 10 questions . The men's drop box should be accessible from women side and women drop box should be accessible from men side . Either side can take out those forms , note down the important info. and put it right back in...
Every Friday, after the prayers, there would be a raffle draw.....
how can anyone meet the opposite gender in a mosque? men and women pray separately in different areas. As far as ISNA meet ups, i personally know many couples that met each other through that, but yes flights and tickets can be expensive as its only in Chicago I believe.
Is online searching really that bad? I know people who have connected through muslim matrimonial sites, including my own cousins and close friends. alot of times, guys make their own profiles and its really not much of a rishta aunty involvement.
Of course it's not.. we're just twenty years behind others :D
Finding a partner online is too 'western' and 'modern' so we're biased against it.. it's going to take another generation for it to become acceptable amongst us desis.. a bit like marrying outside the family or race.. There's no real reason not to try it apart from it not belonging to our traditions..

I thought westerners meet, date and marry and dont rely on matrimonial sites. Isn't matrimonial sites a wholy muslim and Indian thing.
Dating websites don't make sense Islamically either. Haha, once I talked to a reasonable candidate, fairly religious but like yuppy American religious. So I asked him if he ever had gf's, etc, and he says no, I feel too shy and religiously I shouldn't be chatting with girls, etc.
So then I said well you're online and right now you're staring at my thopra on match dot com, and I don't even have a hijab on!

Well that didn't end well.
Some men are weary of women who have wits and are smarter than them ...

Like eastern said a lot of westerners meet online on dating sites (or Facebook or Twitter)..
I don't think people rely on them.. it's just seen an additional option rather than being the last resort as many people in our culture might see it.. I'd have personally preferred online to a rishta aunty because I like being in control and there's a much larger pool of people to choose from if you and your family are open to that.. Of course there are downsides to it as well though..
