boycotting these beauty brands

I can’t do much about the products I already own, but I can control where my hard earned money goes in the future!!

I hope NARS & Urban Decay are on the safe list :bummer:

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

^Woman, you'll be boycotting a lot of what goes on your face and in your mouth. Say goodbye to Starbucks and a whole host of other brand products.

And Francois Nars is, as the name suggests, French. While he might be an exception, generally the French aren't too fond of Les Muslims.

Starbucks I can live without lol...I make my fraps at home now :D

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

Please say Dior and Lorac aren’t on the list either. :bummer:

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

Gotta find a replacement for my bobbi brown skin foundation now!

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

I am currently boycotting Mac, maybelline, Estee Lauder, L'Oréal. Garnier, Bodyshop and Armani boycotts are going to hit me hard.

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

For anyone who wants to stop buying brands owned by Estee Lauder, here is a list:

Our Brands

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

crap! the one and only makeup item I basically use is concealer and I’ve never found one that works like bobbi brown. It is going to be a mission finding something else.

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

I don't know much at all about Nars himself but I'm not sure it's wise to guess a person's attitudes towards Muslims or Gaza based on their race/ethnicity..

I know of quite a few Jewish girls here in London who are against what Israel is doing in Gaza right now.. Likewise I'm Muslim and not a supporter of Hamas either..

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

Good grief, Deeba. Just chill. I said that he might be an exception. Would it make you feel better if I said, "And besides Nars, other members of French origin and inhabitants of the country may also be an exception." Better now? Can you breathe a bit easier now? Even the word generally doesn't mean all of them are like that.

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

How about paying taxes to the US government :smokin:

They end up in the same place as estee loader\s money

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

I think people in the US are more surrounded by that stuff, a lot of stuff in the UK however is home owned, dont care about SB and the McDs.. have a ton of Pakistani options when it comes to shopping for food and soap and glory and primark are safe too. I know someone close to me who's a coca cola addict :/...

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

For how long?

What is the purpose of this

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

US gave nearly $800 million this year alone to Israel. in the last few years, billions of dollars have been given. why are the tax payers not making a big deal out of this? everyone goes nuts when taxpayers money goes towards the welfare of illegal immigrants but no one cares if it goes to fund wars overseas.

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

Maybe you should 'chill' a bit.. All I said was perhaps it would be better not to make assumptions about someone purely because of their race/ethnicity..

Not sure why so many of your posts are personal and snappy these days..

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

Not sure why you're taking my posts so personally or to heart. If you were to say that "generally" Desi-folk feel a certain way...or are more inclined to a certain direction....or do this and that....heck if you haven't posted it, I'm sure that in your head you have thought about various generalities, so relax. No need to be so politically correct ...especially when a member has already accounted for exceptions in their post.

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

Do we have any control over how our taxes is used? Nope. We are required to pay it or suffer penalties.

You're pitting something we can't control against something we can. We have more control over whether we want to pay for a product or service that actively supports Israeli. People have more of a choice in this matter.

Yes, I know where my tax dollars go and I also know that I can't do a damn thing to change that, nor will I be moving out of the US.

I am doing what I can by controlling where my money goes when it comes to consumer goods, volunteering with verified charities and ngo's and sending my zakat to legit organizations. It may be a futile but I feel like it's the least I can do.

I don't expect everyone to agree or comply, and nor do I stand in judgement of anyone who continues to buy these products.

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

RV behen, i didn't say anything against your boycott.
I am just wondering why American public is not outraged at our tax money going to places outside of US when our own needs are not being met. schools are suffering, medicare funding is being cut, so many people have no access to healthcare all because we cannot afford it. but at the same time, US can send billions outside.

Re: boycotting these beauty brands

The last time during the Iraq war I lasted four years without American products. I can do it again. My money ain't going to fund anything shady.
