Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ

Can somebody please give me brief details on where in NJ most of the good boutiques and gold shops are located? Hopefully they are concentrated in two or three locations :fingerscrossed: Any idea if the prices are outrageous or okayish?

Is Chicago better or NY/NJ?

Does anyone who what shop in Pakistan Indus Fashions is linked to?

Merci

Re: Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ

I believe Edison NJ is where all the shops are located. I never shop from there so I don't know how the prices are. But they have Khazana and Sheetal indian boutiques there

Re: Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ

I would be vary of them… they like bargello shop have images taken from magazines of every design that ever gets published in Pakistan from Maria B to Sobia Nazir. The also have Reem Acra bridal gowns posted!!!

Re: Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ

I can't help you with NJ, but i know all the great desi spots in NYC !! :)

Re: Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ

Am waiting Sara…give me the details.

Where are these new jersey ppl  I might be driving tomorrow so if you guys can let me know today that would actually be helpful.

Re: Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ

Khazana carries a lot of Indian designer stuff, we saw a lehnga there by Rohit Bal that was priced at $7500... you could see me slowly drift downstairs to what seemed like their bargain basement.

Re: Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ

try pashmina, karishma in JAckson heights .... NY
also this sari place called ISP (india sari palace?) i think...also on jackson heights...has reasonalbly priced unstiched cloth. you can get unstiched cloth with lovely kaam on it...a whole suit for under $50....they also have saris on sale for about $30-$40...and really pretty ones. the higher ended ones like karishma usually have nice ones but if u are coming to NY i would tell you to really explore the smaller shops since you never know what you can find .....not to mention that the smaller shops are also willing to bargain if you tell them stuff like "ill be buying more from you" "i need to buy four five suits so gimma a bargain"

Re: Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ

i bought a wedding like red lengha in a mermaid style with golden mirror work on the shirt, the skirt AND the dupatta for just $130.....EVERYONE that saw it guessed it to be around $500 atleast!.....i noticed it at one of the smaller shops and told the lady i need to shop for someone's mehendi, valima etc etc and need about 8 dresses lolz... so she gave me a huge discount since she thought i will be buying all the dresses from her shop.

Re: Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ

Re: Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ

Thank you girls. We have an ISP in MD to. Truth is when it comes to partywear and bridal outfits, Pakistani ones rule. I don;t really like indian party clothes and bridals. I think their stuff just looks good on screen.

I heard their is this zari booutique in NJ which is very good. Any confirmations?

Re: Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ

I met the owner of Zari at a bibimagazine event a couple of years ago. Her name is zarmina, quite a sophisticated lady. Her collection is a melange of designer stuff from pakistan she is one of the few who carries Nilofer shahid and some indian pieces. She originally also bought stuff from Sila.com .Quite pricey but elegant.

Re: Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ

Thank you girls. I guess I'll pay jackson heights a visit. Ive heard of this place a main street which is concentrated with desi boutiques. Any details? Sara I doubt i'll be able to make it to bronx. Edison and jackson heights it'll probably be.

Re: Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ

Femme, Main Street does have a few shops. Chandigarh Fashions, Libaas Emporium are two I remember seeing. They're all concentrated in the Main St / Cherry Avenue intersection. There is another place across the street from Libaas, they had some nice outfits in the display window. I've never actually been inside these shops, so I don't know how good/expensive they are.

I do not like Jackson Hts. I found most of the stuff gaudy. Although you might find something good at Pashmina. I know a girl in Queens who makes dresses; what I generally do is buy fabric from JH, then give her the design. She also has those design books from which you can choose a pattern. This way I get 2-3 tailored outfits for the price of one from JH.

Re: Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ

Femmey i live in Bx, not BK.. the stores r in BK :) And where is main street anyway.. ?

Re: Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ

I think she's talking about Main Street in Flushing.

Re: Boutiques/Jewelry in NY/NJ
