Bouncing back to pre-pregnancy shape?

Did you or did you not? How long did it take?

I heard that even if you get back to the pre-preg weight…the body shape is never the same? True?

Re: Bouncing back to pre-pregnancy shape?

Biggest mistake women make is compare themselves to other pregnant women, particularly those who lost the weight fast. Recognize what your body type is and be realistic. I gaind 60 pounds. Within the first 6 months I lost 50 pounds, but the last 10 pounds took a really long time. In total, it took me 14 months to lose all the weight.

It takes you 12 months to put the weight on. Depending on your body type, give yourself at least 12-18 months to lose the weight. Some women are lucky and they lose it all pretty fast. My mom would always tell me that it takes at least one year to get back into shape, and she was right.

My shape is back to how it was pre-pregnancy, which even surprised me.

Re: Bouncing back to pre-pregnancy shape?

I gained 10 kilos and lost 12 kilos after my baby was born . But I was very very sick too. Now that I am doing fine (health wise) I gained 2 kilos back :( But my body shape is back to normal except for my tummy which is still a bit out of shape but i guess it's not even 3 months since i gave birth so it will take time.

Every pregnancy is different same way each human body is different.

Re: Bouncing back to pre-pregnancy shape?

older women always give this tip of having a belt around your tummy they say it helps your tummy get back into shape quicker....any of you tried that...???

^ yes that does help I have heard abt it too !! but it is only possible in normal delivery case and not in c section . Like i had c section and till now my lower abdomen hurts so i cannot wear a belt.

no not true - If you target and tone - you can be in the same body shape. I think I am in better shape before I had my girls.

Re: Bouncing back to pre-pregnancy shape?

^ But dont your hips get wider or something like that? I heard that you can get back into fantastic shape --but your body will still never be exactly as it was before?

Re: Bouncing back to pre-pregnancy shape?

no you hips don’t get wider :smack: It’s not like the child kicks you inside to make you bones shift  (even if it feels like that)

Even if you don’t have kids - a 40 year body does not look like a 20 year body. It has to with hormones and metabolism not with child bearing.

look at heidi klum. 3 kids no change

Re: Bouncing back to pre-pregnancy shape?

obviously if you are breastfeeding you will be a bit top heavy, but then some women don't even have that problem...sigh...i give up I'm never gonna go back to pre-pregnancy size and weight

Re: Bouncing back to pre-pregnancy shape?

^ you will iA pyaare - give it time. Breastfeeding takes a lot out of you.

Re: Bouncing back to pre-pregnancy shape?

I was wondering the same thing. I gained about 35lbs in pregnancy and lost about 20 of that in the first ten days after the baby was born. Because of the c-section my activity has been limted, and I have the little c-section pooch still (it's only been about 4 weeks). Once I've recovered from the operation, the doctor said she'd give me specific exercises I can do to tone and strengthen my abs. They seem sort of like light pilates exercises. I hope I can get into better shape than before the pregnancy, and start showing off cute outfits for the hubby by summer :p

My mumanis keep talking about it. My OBGYN (Pakistani) said it's very commonly used in Pakistan but not much here. She said if I really want to try it, tying a cotton or silk dupatta around my abdomen for support will have the same effect.

^ I gained 35 pounds as well but I only lost 11 of those after giving birth...You are lucky you already lost so many!

Re: Bouncing back to pre-pregnancy shape?

^ my friend used those tummy belts for all 3 of her pregnancies and it really does make a diference! I'm planning on borrowing hers after I have my baby iA

Re: Bouncing back to pre-pregnancy shape?

What are they, exactly?

Re: Bouncing back to pre-pregnancy shape?

Tummy belts - women from eastern countries swear by the tummy belt. It's a belt that you wear on top of your stomach. They say it help keeps the tummy tight and not flabby. They also recomend that you don't drink large quanities of water because it will make you stomach area grow.

Western medicine and doc obviously say "there is no such thing" - you have strengthen your ab muscle and do cardio to lose the tummy.

There might be some weird science behind it. I hav recently observed that if you wear tighten clothes to work out - it actually makes a difference. I don't know whether it helps you sweat more but it does make a slight difference IMO.

Re: Bouncing back to pre-pregnancy shape?

I gained 50 lbs with the pregnancy and by six months or so, i had lost all but some. Now at 10 months post partum, i am 10 lbs below my pre preg weight BUT i was overweight to begin with. I am exlusively breastfeeding so i think that has helped warna i eat like a banshee, especially desserts :bummer:

So the weight i have lost and i think if i were to be really serious, i could lose hte pouch too but it requires some work. I also think age might have a factor, when you are younger, your body bounces back easily, no?
