A powerful bomb exploded in a mosque within Sindh Madrassatul Islam in Karachi today, killing five people and wounding several others, police said. The attack occurred shortly after 1 p.m., the hour of Friday prayers, senior police investigator Tariq Jamil said. He gave no other details. Witnesses said they saw four ambulances ferrying the wounded from the scene. Police and ambulance officials said several of the wounded were in critical condition. The mosque, one of two at the school, was a scene of carnage, with blood and bits of flesh mixed in with the wreckage. Windows were shattered and two pillars fell down. Walls were pocked with shrapnel and spattered in blood.
Ya , Ehsaan bhai.. its sad and outrageous. I wanted to open a thread too but the whole episode and the video and file photos are making us cringe...The site is not tooooo far my place and I can see the ambulances from my gallery and hear them in my room... too.... :--(
Its so pathetic that the people who are in the government, Sindh government in particular are cashing on the situation and have started their usual mudslingging excercise, totally oblivious of the fact that there is no need to play the ethnic or religious card at this crucial moment...
initially I thought since it happened in a mosque it could be a reaction to the firing in Quetta during Moharam processions this year... but no its again on a Shia mosque and Shia's are again a target....
I think we should now start taking counter measures individual level instead of hoping just it will not happen.
installing security cameras, following standard security procedures.
are we prepared? it can happen to anywhere in pak. when we have so many enemies within who can kills innocents for political gains and we also have international players!

Poor Karachi. Probably the most forward thinking city in Pakistan but gets a bad name because of scumbags with political agendas.

Being a Bombaite I consider Karachi a Twin City, and I can feel your Pain.
The maulvis will blame the foreign hand - Mossad/RAW/America
No one will ask the tough questions:
Why have the Quetta imambargah and the Hazara police massacre killers not been punished so far?
What happened to the SUPARCO bus killers?
etc. etc.
You can keep killing Shia in Pakistan without fear of punishment. Musharraf talks tough but in the end he was one who made alliance with Maulana Azam Tariq, before he was put to death.
Very disturbing.... I would like to see all 'Ulama' (Islamic scholars), both Sunni and Shai, who are respected by the community to come out as outrageous and with full conviction and organized to root out this menace. As religious scholars, they should start a nationwide movement against such sectarian violence and consider their primary obligation to teach public against it and be courageous to face these unIslamic groups.
Pakistani society would have been peaceful if pious and angels of the society had been as organized and committed as mobs and gangsters are. Why is it that a gang is more organized, while many of the pious seem to lack discipline and interaction among themselves to stand up against these thugs?
Lets find the responsible parties and obliterate them. I am talking the top down hierarchy...from the leadership on down. NO ONE has the right to do this in Pakistan's most powerful city.
Wheres Imdad? I can't wait to read his assessments :)
Its horrible. Its just my 6th month in KHI, and all the commotion of the Ambulances going by outside and the pictures on TV are running chills down my body. Three day mourning has been announced and I wonder if that would mean burning down of shops and vehicles.

Oh please, forward thinking my ass...stop trying to place karachi and its ppl as some sort of angelic city full of modernistic ppl.....karachi's full of the most hate-filled, biased and conniving ppl I've ever met. And btw, no one's blaming karachi or its ppl for this, everyone knows those who did it are in a minority.
But I think it's sad that ppl calling themselves Muslims can resort to such sort of friggin non-sense. I just don't get these extremists, I wouldn't mind putting each and every one of them in jail, even if they've memorized the entire qur'an. What good is it, if the only reason they did is to justifty what is clearly a crime.
