Uff
My reply in the other thread was a "joke", perhaps i'll be careful next time. Anyhow in reply to your question, a person should voice their opinion regardless of the fact that it's agreeable to the majority or not.

hey don't mind me. I was only trying to be a pain.
peace
Al-Hamra Art Council in Lahore.
I can’t upload the pics, upload is off for a while.
haha, it was pathetic.
Since most of what I found negative about the ceremony has already been stated, I'd like to make a few more notes here.
Reema, Meera, and Noor were the only well dressed folks in the audience. There was one lady dressed in white - looked like she was getting married or something - totally overdressed and obviously wanting a director or producer to notice her. If that doesn't show that our industry is taking the wrong approach to art and creativity, then I dont know what does.
Mullah - pathetic - what an insult to religion. And to think Shahida Minni was encouraging it while "singing". Disgraceful.
The lady in the red dress (one of the girls from Pyar Hi Pyar Mein) danced well, and so did the first girl in the black dress. I'm forgetting names here.
I cancelled prime tv yesterday. I was fed up with it. No entertaining shows. They've been showing the same videos for the past year. How long has Abrar's preeto been played? Grrr...I've repeatedly written to the giving them LISTS of new videos that are out, and they refuse to play most of them. Its a ridiculous channel. Just to update myself on videos, I might get it back on in about a year to see if they improved at all. Until then, I'd rather spend my time reading Aristotle.

The girl who first danced in the black outfit is the same woman who was in the white outfit later on sitting in the audience .... she had some of the same jewelry on, except she changed her tikka/jhumar and necklace cause she was now in a white outfit.
I think the female actresses all looked like tarts, including Meera. The bright pink lipstick and over the top eye shadow is just too much!! The only exceptions were Reema and Noor.
The dramas on PTV are the only good thing on that channel. :)

You are right, but about that mullah guy you are wrong... Whoever in Pakistan has a white beard is now termed mollah. Thats ridiculous, and Ive seen the term mollah used more frequently amongst Pakistanis abroad, than in Pakistan. I know alot of aged people in Pakistan, with white beards, but they are hardly religious, let alone mollahs. Why cant they enjoy themselves like the younger folks do, there was a time when they were young too, especially when you have that thumkass Shahida Minni (who will be joining their age group soon).
Spock, it’s a common assumption that a person with a long white beard and a topi is religious … just like when you see a woman in a hijab one automatically assumes the person is more religious. I think that is why it shocked pretty much all of us who watched these awards.
By wearing a topi and the beard, the dude was giving the impression that he is a holy man. Otherwise, why dress like that if you are not?
I suppose it is a common stereotype that people who look and dress a certain way are assumed to be more conservative and spiritual. Sucks for that guy. I hope he didn’t get beaten up afterwards for giving off the wrong image. ![]()
Well, I personally know alot of buzurgs who keep these white beards not as a sign of being religious, but to chalked out as the dignified, the wise etc…
However, you are still right, and I agree when you say its rather odd, but I disagree with PCG when she says he shouldnt be doing it since hes a mollah!!! I mean thats ridiculous, why must we call every religious person a mollah? Is chacha cricket also a mollah? No, hes just like the average sialkoti, and a fun loving guy!
what I don' understand is why such a big fuss about an old man dancing? so he happens to have beard doesn't make him a mullah or an ambassodor of Islam. Why he's a disgrace to religion is beyond my intelligence.

I agree :)
Anybody who thinks those two dances were good must have no idea what classical dance is all about. Those two performances were a disgrace to classical and were more like straight out of the heera mundi cult. Her moves weren't in sync and her body was in negation to her mind. It was pathetic.
As far as PTV dramas being good, I don't think so. ALmost all revolove around a daughter going against the wishes of her brother and father to marry some city guy - brother is out to avenge his "izzat" and ends up in jail at the end. These stories are an insult to intellect. I know dramas don't have to be mentally stimulating but common, there are so many of such plots one can put up with.
I have had Prime since its inception in the States. I now watch it ONLY when there isn't anything else on my other 150 dish channels.
i was really excited that the awards were going to be coming on ptv prime but they were very dissapointing and not wat i was expecting i agree that where were all of the artists like abrar, jawad humera etc.
Shahida mimi absolutly pathetic and she can't even sing trying to encourage yeh right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
As for as the mulawi shahib is concerned he was a disgrace and the three women also.I think the sharam is totally gone nowadays.
I hate ptv prime we aren't going to subscribe to it any more coz they don't telecast good programs except for drama's.
:(
But to be fair to Prime, Bolan awards is not some industry standard for a great show. To be honest this was my first ever. I didn't even know it existed. The real showcase is the annual PTV awards. For some reason, TV people seem to be more presentable than our film folks.
Funguy, I also noticed that her dance moves were crap....the first girl who danced in the black outfit. To the fair to the other dancers, they are actually actors that come in dramas .... so they aren't even dancers. In that sense, they did a pretty good job.
Anyway, back to the chick in black, she kept doing the same dance moves....basically rotating her wrist and moving her arms upwards. I can do better. :)
Mehnaz, and another reason Pakistani dancers are usually lame is because this form of artistic expression is culturally looked down upon. There are no dance academies in Pakistan except for one that is run by this lady, Naheed (can’t recall her last name). She was on NPR’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross. (Do you get National Public Radio in GTA?).
Do you really do classical dance or was that a joke?. ![]()
It was a joke. ![]()
I have no clue what radio stations in the GTA area we get … I rarely listen to Pakistani music.
NPR is not a Pakistani music channel. It is America's public broadcasting network free of commercials. Has a well rounded viewpoint from all over the world. Give it a try at npr.org.
