I thought by blurring out areas of a photo to emphasise a selected feature is bokeh.
ok so, does the blur have to have a character other than just blur, that comes from the type lens used eg dilation, distortion, circles, shapes?

ps. btw i did work on it manual settings of this point and shoot camera. so lets start from begining, how much distance would you prefer a newbie should between the focal and background.
