Whats the origin of Bohri Muslims? I found that they followed Egyptian Calendar and celebrate Eid, etc a day or two before other Muslims.

They are sub-sect of Ismaili, i am sorry but i can't call them Muslims.
Originally from Yemen & Egypt, persecuted in the Fatimid reign because of their differences from mainstream Islam. Migrated to India in late 15th century known as the born traders. They have large community in Karachi.

Some guy name Burhanuddin is their 52nd dai-ul-mutlaq these days.

yes I heard about this Burhan u Din. Based on my limited interaction with this community, I thought that they are some what a sect between Sunni & Shia. A Bohri friend used to offer his prayer at a Sunni mosque and also participated in Shia Majalis, etc.

I think Bohri also have some categories. They also have different jamat Khanas like Agha Khani / Ismailis and wear specific dress while praying. One of our senior used to go home for Juma prayers and we were thinking why he goes first home and then Jama'at khana. Then someone told that they are required to wear special dress for prayers.

Bohris split off from the Ismailis around a century or two ago, as they believed the Aga Khan was deviating from Islam and thus failing in his role as Imam. They elected another man to be Imam in his place.

From talking to a Bohri friend their beliefs are somewhat mixed between Sunni, Ithna Ashari Shia, and Ismaili.

I think their beliefs don't obligate a single way of praying as being solely correct, so when they are with Sunnis they pray our way, when they are Ithna Ashari Shias they pray that way, and when they are amongst their own community they pray their way.

I was once at an iftaari in Ramadan where a Bohri friend mentioned that they had prayed Maghrib in 3 different ways in the past 3 days, due to going to 3 different mosques with 3 different groups of friends (Bohri, Ithna Ashari, and Sunni)

Bohri are one of batiniyah people who believe that batini meaning of quran are only known to thier elders.

Normaly bohris are called tayyabi-dawoodi bohras.

I think Bohris are from Baniya variety similar to Memons and these species are also found in Gujarat, India:)

They might have settled in Gujrat and have a Baniya link (considering their involvement in trade like Memons and Parsis), but they follow different religious ideology than Memons (who mostly follow Sunni sect)

All Sindhis, Marwadi, Gujratis, Memons, Bohris, Parsis love money the most:D

They live in one of the medium tax paying areas of India:), Marathis pay more tax than Seth and Baniya:D

par Egypt meN bhii to Friday ko Eid huii hai…ab vo agar Musalmaan haiN to Pagan Calendar kiuN follow kareNge…Islamii teohaar kia pagan calendar se manaayeNge lol?
