Re: body dysmorphic d/o ?

body dysmorphic disorder, I'm assuming it means that you view your body differently than it actually is - ie., if youre skinny as a stick, you still think you're fat.

nope not me. I have a clear view of what I've got! I know I'm not overweight but my tummy is a nightmare of a mess. Mommyhood does have its price! Still playing lotto though, with a dollar and a dream, we can fix it, yes we can!

Re: body dysmorphic d/o ?

Hmmm, I was reading an article on body image this morning. I believe a lot of us have body image issues to some extent. Whether we go psychotic over it to the point where we are actually hurting ourselves is another thing.

From the article posted below:

The most hated part of the body for women was their thighs - highlighted by 87%, with the waist, disliked by 79%.

The survey also revealed 65% were unhappy with their breasts, with the same number having negative feelings about their feet and 59% unhappy with their face.

Teeth were picked out by 57% of the women surveyed, who said they were unhappy with the way they looked.

Half said they had “muffin rolls” - described as “podgy rolls sticking out over their waistband”.
The only parts of the body which were widely liked were the “slimmish ankles” owned by 54% of those surveyed.

Re: body dysmorphic d/o ?

nisa i also think i need bigger eyes, green colored, my nose could use a nose job, my lips could be fuller, my cheecks could be thinner, my cheekbones could be higher, i could be taller, my arms could use some toning and i think other than that i am all good.

Re: body dysmorphic d/o ?

i think i got it at a certain level .. but thats more likely due to the stress of its outcome, not personal..

Re: body dysmorphic d/o ?

u guys r scaring me now :bummer:

Re: body dysmorphic d/o ?

And you're also getting a little off topic.

I think in a general sense it's common for women to think they are bigger and heavier than they are. How can we help it if we compare ourselves to Giselle? Men however THINK they look better than they actually do. But I do know guys who work out alot and look really good but they're never satisfied. They still feel 'too small'. That's almost the reverse of anorexia.

Re: body dysmorphic d/o ?

^^

Wrong. We KNOW we look better than others THINK we look :snooty:

Re: body dysmorphic d/o ?

I remember reading an article on that :hmmm:
