i think i mite have it, cuz im never happy with the way I look, therefore i rarely allow people to take a picture of me..I have a confidence/self esteem problem cuz of my appearance...i got problems

seriously... bdd is a mental disorder where the patient feels that he/she is extremely ugly, monstrous etc. even if they opt for plastic surgeries they still feel ugly. and da worst cases end up with suicide. oprah was showing a 28 yrs old gal who went for 26 surgeries and still feeling ugly.
and its so sad cuz these patients are not even ugly. some are really good-looking.

body dysmorphic disorder is different than just your average everyday insecurity caused by insensitive comments and general dislike of certain parts of yourself, and to an xtent, your entire self, inside and out.. :(

I don't think I have a severe case of bdd but maybe a mild one. Just like every other woman I'm never satisfied w/ the way I look

"Body image/dysmorphic disorders" are on the rise. Women are still in the lead-but men are catching up.

The thing that makes it difficult to treat is-like you say-that they are in denial about it.

But they deny it because their brain structure has changed. It`s similar to people who deny having a left arm after a stroke.

Their brains "forget" that arm-therefore it doesn`t exist any longer. Treatment has to change their brains in order for it to be effective.
