Body/colon cleanse

Has anyone ever tried a cleanse? If so, did it work, and what brand did you buy?

I really need to lose weight, I have already started working out (this is my third week) a few days a week, and I am going to be pushing it up even more frequently, and a longer time too. I haven’t seen much of a difference yet, that’s why I know I need to amp up my workout… I was thinking of adding a cleanse, but I don’t want to waste my money on something that may purely commercial..

and yes, I know, everyone’s body is different blah blah blah.. I just want to know if they really do might work for some people or are they marketing gimmicks.. ?? same goes for those garcinia or acai pills etc. ..

btw - my goal is to lose 30 pounds minimum .. any extra advice would be helpful.. I already have the diet down (which is the hardest part) …

Re: Body/colon cleanse

This would not work. Really!

Re: Body/colon cleanse

What diet are you following?

If it has been 3 weeks.. u should be seeing some results. I started December 6th and have lost 21 lbs so far. The first 10 days, I lost 10 lbs and then it slowed down to 2 lbs per week.

I am on a 1200 calorie diet, I work out 30 minutes 5 times per day.

Colon cleanse would not help you in weight loss. It may get rid of stool... not fat.

I would suggest that u eat 5 times per day but small portions.
Drink lots of water... I drink 4 cups when I first wake up and 2 cups before lunch and dinner.
Chart your calories to really see what you are putting in your body.
Don't go on a diet.... decide to make better decisions. This makes it so much easier. I have been eating everything but in moderation. I also limit carbs. So if I am going to have a slice of pizza, I have to eat really healthy for the next couple of days. Also, I may get a thin crust instead of pan.
Make better choices when eating out.
Plan your meals ahead of time so u r not constantly having to make decisions about what to eat.

Re: Body/colon cleanse

^^ wow, 21 pounds within a month sounds amazing !! good for you !!!

I wish I could get similar results.. I am not really following a diet per say, but I have cut down my eating alot, and I constantly drink water throughout the day.. I am not eating junk, but I eat in moderation, and don’t eat late anymore.. my portions are about as half as what I used to eat…

as for working out, uptil now I had been working 30min about 3 times a week.. now I am working out everyday (started a few days ago) and increase my time by around 5 minutes every day, trying to build up to an hour tops so I don’t overdo it and/or get bored with it either.

I don’t know what else to do .. 5 pounds pounds seems like it will never happen, forget 30 :naraz:

Re: Body/colon cleanse

thats amazing! congrats to you :). do you mind sharing your meal plan and what exercises you do?

Re: Body/colon cleanse

It's great that you cut your portion BUT what exactly are you eating? What do you usually eat for breakfast/lunch/dinner? What do you drink other than water and how often? And how early do you eat dinner?

As for working out, again, exactly what workouts are you doing? Do you keep track of how many calories you're burning?

Re: Body/colon cleanse

Breakfast: pick one with a side of fruit
Omelette (made in non stick pan with no oil) with one piece of low calorie bread
Boiled eggs
Oatmeal
Cereal
Smoothie made using skim milk

Snacks:
Fruits
Nuts
Vegrables
Popcorn

Lunch: pick one
Soup, salad, sandwich, subway, roasted chicken breast, baked fish, wrap, whole wheat pasta, zucchini lasagna (haven't tried this one)

Dinner: desi food with 2 slices of low calorie bread/1 tortilla/ 1/4 naan or 1 roti

This is my plan nowadays.

I do 30 minutes of eliptical per day. Then at work, we have a group that does squats so I do 2 sets of 50 squares everytime I work.

Re: Body/colon cleanse

throughout the day, I have started eating more fruit (apples and grapes mainly), lots of yogurt ( I love yogurt), minimum 2 liters of water, and whatever I have cooked at home..

in the mornings I have coffee with a breakfast bar at work.. at home, omelette, chai with a rusk, or boiled egg.

for lunch, either fruit or typically, it's chane, daal, grilled chicken, with maybe rice or just by itself

dinner, i'd probably have the same, or just make a bowl of soup. I try to stop eating by 8ish

everyday after work I workout.. I walk though, cuz I am just not a runner, I will jog a bit here and there, but its 99% walking at 3.5-3.7 pace and a 4-4.5 incline on the treadmill.

I barely eat out anymore, it's all home cooked stuff, but if I do eat out, I try to choose healthy options, but if I don't, I try to workout extra to take it off....

and all of that in moderation. again, if I happen to eat something oily like fried kabobs/pakore or something, then I workout out a little longer to take it off, or I will skip the actual food I would have planned to eat later and substitute for fruit or something..

yet, the weight is not coming off... this is really getting annoying ... or maybe I just have to be more patient ??

Re: Body/colon cleanse

this is bothering me even more cuz eventually when I have kids inshAllah, I will gain even more weight obviously, and that will make me bigger than what I currently am (which I am not happy with) ... just thinking about it makes me very sad .. cuz then that means I would probably not be able to take the pregnancy weight off either ...

Re: Body/colon cleanse

be patient. how long have you been doing this and you haven't lost any weight?

Some weeks I lose nothing and then all of a sudden I drop 5 lbs.

Re: Body/colon cleanse

OK so now the problem is obvious. Your eating habits, exercise (or rather...lack of it), and beliefs about eating are the problem. No wonder you're not losing weight.

Why don't you eat a proper breakfast every morning? I never eat breakfast bars. Even if you're short on time, you can eat a proper breakfast in 15 minutes. Oatmeal, fruits, eggs, cereal....it takes less than 2 minutes to make these. So instead of breakfast bars....eat a full healthy breakfast every-single-morning.

Dinner: A bowl of soup is not dinner. Eat a proper meal! Starving your body by eating fruits only for lunch or a bowl of soap only for dinner is not the way to be healthy and lose weight. And 8:00 p.m. IS late! You need to eat your dinner by 6:30 p.m. at the latest. Then around 8 or 9, if you're hungry, eat a healthy snack like unsalted nuts (almonds, peanuts, walnuts whatever), plain popcorn, banana, carrots, plain yogurt with fruit etc.

30 minutes of walking at 3.5-3.7 pace with a incline of 4-4.5 is NOTHING! I use that pace/incline to warm-up before I start my actual work-out! You don't need to be a runner. There are MANY other ways to do serious cardio. Elliptical, cycling, stair master....and tons of exercises without any machines. Right now you are barely burning any calories with your walking. If you can't learn it on your own, then hire a personal trainer for 6-8 sessions and have them show you how to properly exercise and burn some serious calories.

And this thought that you're going to eat non-healthy and burn it off...including fried pakoras...forget it. And please do not eat unhealthy and then skip a meal with the assumption that the calories are balanced out. Eat healthy 6 days/week. Give yourself 1 day each week to "cheat" meaning eat whatever unhealthy cravings you have (of course with moderation). But that's it. Otherwise, eat healthy 6 days/week and start burning some serious calories 7 days/week and you'll see the weight coming off soon.

Re: Body/colon cleanse

^^ you are absolutely correct about the food part, I really have to work harder on that to cut down the bad stuff..
as far as the exercise goes, unluckily, I'm not like you. I have to work up slowly, and even then it is kinda harmful to me. Because, even at the pace that I'm going now, I get bad cramps by the end of it.. either in my stomach, or my hips. bad to the point where I cannot even walk anymore, like normal walk throughout the day.. I start limping... that is the reason I cannot go faster or harder sometimes because I am afraid what it will do to my hips and stomach pain.

I know a girl who went crazy working out and lost alot of weight.. one of her routines was overdoing it on the treadmill, and now she has hip issues, and she is still young, it was cuz of the exercise.. I don't want to end up like that, especially since I already get into that similar pain sometimes

Re: Body/colon cleanse

Yes you #1](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) issue is food followed by the lack of exercise/doing activities that burns calories.

Do you have a physical or medical condition that’s limiting your ability to exercise? And you keep bringing up the treadmill…again…why don’t you use other equipments? Elliptical is much better for your knees/hips. Stairmaster is just climbing up stairs. Cycling is also an option. There there are exercises without any equipment…using your body weight.

And if you don’t already have a medical/physical condition, then get clearance from your doctor before exercising. The pain you’re describing is not normal.

Re: Body/colon cleanse

I've heard that it's easier for an overweight person to lose a lot of weight in the beginning of a new regime, than for someone of an already-healthy weight to lose 5-10 lbs.

Re: Body/colon cleanse

Yes, that's true. I have osteoarthritis in my knee due to the gym. And I had a personal trainer to help me not get injured, lol! I actually lost weight by slow walking ( 2 mph) and counting steps. Losing weight is 80% diet. Cardio is great esp for your heart etc, But if you can't do much, then you can't do much. Not everyone can do that much. Try the battle ropes. Its high impact cardio without destroying your joints.

Re: Body/colon cleanse

Working out and carrying over such routine over a long period of time is important.

Although I am not fat or obese, I was getting in the overweight zone few months back, had to loose 5-10 pounds. Did crunches alone to trim my belly down but no use.

Then I tuned into a careful diet consisting of daal/roti, veges, fruits, oil-less chicken and occasional sandwiches. and I did 30-40 mins of gym-cycling/jogging. It made me loose around 5-6 kgs within 2-3 weeks. I got relatively flatter belly now.

(Working out + Proper diet) * being consistent is the key. If you're real overweight, do stick with cycling as its easier to do with fat on you.

Re: Body/colon cleanse

true, don't over do it right away. I started with 5 mins of cycling, moving to 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 (mixing jogging + cycling over machine to avoid constant stress over specific muscles) minutes with a gap of 2-3 days. Now that I've reached ideal weight, I would minimize it around 15-20 mins for long-term.

Re: Body/colon cleanse

The best thing to lose your weight is to do household chores , helping your mother in kitchen , help everyone literally by helping others you lose your weight because you carry other people problems on your shoulders and by carrying others problem you will definitely feel stressed and lose weight :p

Re: Body/colon cleanse

I am on 1200 calories diet for past 25 days. I have lost about 2kg....but i think i should loose more. i try to do 30min of walk as well for 3-4 times a week. I live in hilly area so all streets are very steep. I go up the streets and than down for 30 min. i dont get time to go to the gym as after work i have to look after 2 kids and all housework as well.
my waist is down by 4cm.
I am not sure if my progress is well enough with 1200 calories or not.

Re: Body/colon cleanse

hahaha it doesnt work for me.
