Was he at Beijing Olympics?

Re: /Body-Building Week\ Worlds strongest Man. Refusing to accept any nations suprema

I was actually watching a video featuring Rezazadeh a couple of days back. The guy can clean and jerk (military jerk) regularly lifting 550/580 pounds and this is a feat that is hard to put in words. What kind of training they must go through? I assume this requires an enormous amount of bulking up/binge eating. I mean, I would think they would practice this maybe a day before the match because lifting that much requires your body to be in a state of fully nutritional.

Same guy in the second and third video.

A front shoulder squat. Impressive.

Look at this though. This move requires perfection everytime but this is a horribly wrong technique. The jerk is too fast, arms are bending over the head putting the weight behind the head level and other form errors as Patrick Donnelly writes in his description.

Re: /Body-Building Week\ Worlds strongest Man. Refusing to accept any nations suprema

Question on Arnold Schwarzenegger's body-building regime: I had read up on his technique on lifting weights and I came across several sources which/who have mentioned his workout as follows:

(Example)

Squats: Instead of 3/4 sets of [X] number of pounds...

Arnold Way of Squats:

10 reps of 100
9 reps of 90
8 reps of 80
7 reps of 70
(and so forth).

Granted this could have been a part of Arnold's technique, how effective is it, really?

What I felt was very use full, you warm up with lighter weight.
Do 2 sets of real heavy may you could only do 5-7 raps each set.
Then reduce weight for like 10-15 kg and do 2 sets of 10-15 raps.
Always gave me enormous strength.

Re: /Body-Building Week\ Worlds strongest Man. Refusing to accept any nations suprema

Does the kind of training that these guys go through require days where you could freely binge-eat on things? Most of them I have seen have 1-1/2 or double chins (two chins) but then their strength is just ridiculous. They can lift real heavy which I would assume is after bulking up.

Re: /Body-Building Week\ Worlds strongest Man. Refusing to accept any nations suprema

Weight lifters usually do to rap per set , gives maximum strength.
This guy is in category 110+ So there is no upper limit. Those guys are not worried about weight at all.
They what the feel like.
How ever , getting over weight is normally a big concern among other athletes.
You can see them running with extra cloths on, trying to lose weight, just before weighing in for the competition.
That way they only use water from their body, get weighted and then drink and eat.

Re: /Body-Building Week\ Worlds strongest Man. Refusing to accept any nations suprema

Okay to let's talk about water weight. And my question. For an athlete who has to drink about a gallon of water per day, is the weight lost during cardio really the "fat" off from the body or the water weight?

Along the same lines, since an average human body is made up of 70% of water weight, how do you shed the other 30%? You obviously can't go waterless. So how does the body fat get shed, and is it mostly fat that gets shed during cardio or is it water weight?

Re: /Body-Building Week\ Worlds strongest Man. Refusing to accept any nations suprema

Well, my self have done that. But I was losing weight an I had to be over 91kg.
So me and dude made a tanga trip from camp to zabzi many bought like a dozen of banana and a dozen of kino. I ate most of it on our way back.
I made the weight, But wasn't even able to talk. I ran to wash room and throw up.
Like by putting fingers in my throat.

Now when you look at the athletes in lower weight categories, they hardly have any fat on them. they lose like 2-4 lbs in half a day.
Only way they could do is excessive sweating.

Re: /Body-Building Week\ Worlds strongest Man. Refusing to accept any nations suprema

Yes, bananas are a source of energy and instant weight gain right there.

You said only way the athletes could do it is excessive sweating. Do you mean by doing cardio, they will lose the water weight as well as the fat off the body?
