Re: Bob Woolmer passes away at age 58
**Just heard Junaid Jamshed on Geo. He is recalling his discussion with Bob after the series win against England in Faisalabad in 2005. He asked him how did he feel beating english team being an English man. Junaid said his reply shocked him
" Wait a minute man! I am a Pakistani, I live in Pakistan as a Pakistani and I will die as a Pakistani "
**
This is absolutely shattering..
Shoaib Akhtar is at loss of words. You could listen to his voice shaking on Geo.
Re: Bob Woolmer passes away at age 58
this is a very personal opinion. but pak team didn't deserve to be coached by this person. Javed or Salim Malik would've been good enough for this team.
PCB should support Woolmer's family. pakistan losing to ireland was no shock, this news is.

Lets not get overly emotional like Pakistanis always do, its very tragic that Woolmer died, he did make his mark as an international coach.
But lets not forget that we have had a painful and shameful defeat, like someone said, everyone is to die one day, it was just a co-incidence that he died today.
Lets not shy away from a due overhauling of Pakistan cricket that is long overdue.
Re: Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer dies
I don't follow too much cricket but from what I understand Pakistan recently lost a game to Ireland which kicks them out of the Cricket World Cup right? And the shock was 2 much for the coach to take? he fkin died? thats incredibly sad !
*If that was the real reason of his death then that proves that he was more patriotic about Pakistan than all the other loosers in Pakistani team. Shame on the over pampered, spoiled brats who let the whole nation down. Long live Bob Woolmer! We apreciate all u did for us Pakistanis *
Re: Bob Woolmer passes away at age 58
Am shocked and saddened.
May he rest in peace.
Re: Bob Woolmer passes away at age 58
This is one of the saddest days in Pak cricket. Junaid Jamshed rightly said on Geo that Bob died in the line of duty, and he should be fecilitated (some sort of civil award) for his services to Pakistan.

I suppose that's one way of putting it.

**Tributes to Bob Woolmer
‘He gave his life to cricket and paid for it’ - Donald
** Cricinfo staff
March 18, 2007
The cricket world was shocked to learn of Bob Woolmer’s sudden death in Jamaica, a day after Pakistan’s early exit from the World Cup. The tributes have started coming in. Here are the early ones:
“The news was pretty devastating, to be honest. He was a very, very close friend, actually more than as a coach… He was a very respected man. We were together with Warwickshire and South Africa. Bob was an extremely professional man, was an extremely soft person, gave his life to cricket and probably paid for it.”
Allan Donald
“I am shocked and badly hurt. We have lost a good coach and a good person.”
“We had a marvelous time together. Can’t believe it happened. It happened so quickly. We can’t do anything about it… huge tragedy for Pakistan cricket, a huge shock for the nation. Don’t think I can take it very well… Was a lovely man, very understanding…”
Shoaib Akhtar
“It’s a great shock, great tragedy. Didn’t know that he was diabetic and had high blood sugar. We had a good relationship with him. He was a thorough professional; he was a wonderful person to work with… My condolences to his family” -
Wasim Bari
"Our thoughts are with Bob’s family. This has come as a huge shock to all of the England team. “He was a figure who commanded great respect within world cricket and he will be sorely missed.”
Andrew Walpole, the ECB media manager
"We are extremely grieved at his pasing away. On behalf of the PCB let me say it’s a moment of extreme grief for all of us. He met with a heart attack and died in hospital in Jamaica . This is all we know at this moment… Bob was one of the greatest coaches in Pakistan and in world cricket… "

Re: Bob Woolmer passes away at age 58
This is unbelievable and shocking.....I could not sopt my tears for some time now..
I think he just took the responsibility and pressure, which some one else should have taken....
he has done enough for the team, but may be our team did not deserve him.. its so shocking and depressing.. how is Pakistan gonna play their last match of the WC.. I wont be shocked now, if Pakistan losses to Zimbabwe after this shocking incident.
His family, needs our support, PCB should take some actions to take care of them.
Re: Bob Woolmer passes away at age 58
I am too shocked to say anything. This is very sad. May his soul rest in peace.
I hope as a tribute to Woolmer those no good players of ours will honour him by winning the match on wednesday against Zimbabwe.
Re: Bob Woolmer passes away at age 58
I actually hope that the game against Zimbabwe is forfeited. I'm sure Pakistan would end up losing which would not be the ideal way to honour Woolmer.

I think Pakistan needs to play extraordinarily well and dedicate that to Woolmer. :( nothing can bring him back but thats all he wanted while at work.
