**NEWSWEEK was not the first to report allegations of desecrating the Qur’an. As early as last spring and summer, similar reports from released detainees started surfacing in British and Russian news reports, and in the Arab news agency Al-Jazeera; claims by other released detainees have been covered in other media since then… In the meantime, as part of his ongoing reporting on the detainee-abuse story, Isikoff had contacted a New York defense lawyer, Marc Falkoff, who is representing 13 Yemeni detainees at Guantلnamo. According to Falkoff’s declassified notes, a mass-suicide attempt - when 23 detainees tried to hang or strangle themselves in August 2003 - was triggered by a guard’s dropping a Qur’an and stomping on it. One of Falkoff’s clients told him, “Another detainee tried to kill himself after the guard took his Qur’an and threw it in the toilet.”
Consistent and persistent reports from numerous other victims of Guantanamo would suggest that not only is there abuse and torture, but there is a systemic modus operandi of defiling the Qur’an that takes place in these torture camps.
In July 2004, in an exclusive interview with Aljazeera, a former Guantanamo detainee reported how he was abused and how the Qur’an was defiled in his presence.
‘Wisam Abd al-Rahman Ahmad said he was captured in Iran, transferred to a Kandahar detention facility in Afghanistan, and finally imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay. … “They stripped me naked with a bag over my head. One of the soldiers turned me around, removed the bag and I saw a female soldier looking at me,” he said. “They knew that it is an insult to our religion to appear thus before women,” he said. … However, nothing compared to the agony of seeing the Quran defiled… “I could bear all the obscene abuse and all the beatings but I was agonised to see one US soldier stomp on the Holy Quran, while another soldier in Kandahar threw it into the toilet,” he said. … While in detention at Bagram air base, Ahmad recounted how a female soldier entered his cell to search him. She had brought a dog with her and she proceeded to give the dog the Quran to sniff through.‘ **

So you have Newsweek which has COMPLETELY retracted the story, and a bunch of former detainees who would certainly make any allegation against the US. Now the one group who has been in Guantanamo regularly is the Red Cross. And the Red Cross has said NOTHING about any violation of religious rights.

New reports have confrimed Pakistan's hand in the demostration in Afghanistan. How sad knowing all this and not having the power to root out your enemy. What does Pakistan want from Afghanistan? They succeeded in destroying it, leveled it to the ground, what else is there to be flushed out? They even destroyed the forests, Mash'Allah, what a gift Pakistan gave to us. It's regretfull how the Afghans in 1960s did not invade Pakistan when we had a chance, instead they felt sad for the so called Muslism nation. Astaghferullah.
Everything that occurs in Afghanistan deffinately has a Pakistani & Irani hand in it. What goes around, comes around.
