Re: Blurring the lines between right and wrong…a new trend

^ did u read the quote and his reply too?..it sounds like he’s saying since chicken is allowed to be eaten, there’s no necessity for it to be halal:hmmm:

Re: Blurring the lines between right and wrong…a new trend

I got one that takes the cake…and no I am not making this up (nor did I ever say it :emmy: )

Re: Blurring the lines between right and wrong...a new trend

I think the really great thing is that they have people like us in their lives. Alhamdulillah.

I just wish that people were also just as invested and animated when they see people declare something haram which is not haram.

..some people will go to all ends to declare something as haram.

From henceforth, I dub these people to be haram(ees)!

Release the Krakken!!!

Re: Blurring the lines between right and wrong...a new trend

i like your sense of humour
you remind me of me

you must be a sick and twisted individual :)

Re: Blurring the lines between right and wrong...a new trend

Ahhh, good sir, I take that as a compliment of the highest order.

The doubtful/gray areas are those issues that aren't clearly halal or haraam, they are instead mustahab (recommended), mubah (indifferent), or makruh (disliked). For example, some people will label smoking/hookah as haraam, others as makruh. And even if it's makruh, they'll still think it's ok to smoke.

Ummm, is Jimmy crushing on RV?

I'm unsure as to where you live, but here on earth, there is no such thing as ONE islam. 1 and a half billion people don't care what you consider right or wrong. There is no such thing as ummah. "Islamic" populace is not homogeneous and many groups, sects, sub groups, regional communities have different ways of interpreting islam whether you LIKE it or not.

Re: Blurring the lines between right and wrong...a new trend

All I want to add to this discussion is, Islam is not a static religion. It has many interpretations and Quran is rich with meaning. If it were so static, it would not have survived all these 1400+ years.

^When it comes to haraam things... EVERYTHING is mentioned in a crytal clear language by Allah swt in the Quran. This is Haraam, don't do it. That is Haraam, don't do it. The consequences for being involved in haraam stuff as well as the rewards for staying away from the haraam things are then detailed.

Couldn't get any simpler than that.

We have made it difficult for us by, again, justifying the wrong things by popping out various interpretations/excuses out of thin air.

Zina is haraam. Don't have sex before marriage. Very easy to understand. Very directly said. And yet, like Sara mentioned, there's people who have their own interpretation and say "no intercourse means no zina" LOL

Re: Blurring the lines between right and wrong...a new trend

^Your opinion. I respect it.

Ditto.

People who usually justify stuff i.e. eating Haram chicken/meat or drinking or having physcial relationships prior to marriage, using religon themselves KNOW they are wrong but just won't admit it and instead will use or manipulate religous interpretations to justify their stupid actions which in itself by doing that is even a BIGGER gunnah!

Re: Blurring the lines between right and wrong...a new trend

haram police has declared ties, jeans, suits haram in some cases
I really dont recall seeing any ayat or hadeeth saying those things are haram.

ask people if lobster is halal, and you hear its haram, well really..lets look at the diff schools of thought and then say whether or not it is considered

I see things like oh shaving head is haram because you wanna be gangsta...a few decades ago, growing hair long was haram because you wanna be a hippie,

all music is haram...right..really? or is it type of music that is haram.

I was told in pakistan that I cant pray namaz in jeans and tshirt...loose jeans and a plain tshirt with no logos on images no words..

as I said, yes...lets not declare haram things as halal, and lets not declare halal things as haram.

we have also made many things compulsory in religion which simply are not and then we argue about them..

and forget ppl like me..

there are people declaring naats as haram, or halaal
qawaali is halal but led zep is not for some..like really amigo..
shab e barat halway are part and parcel for some, haram by others
eid milad un nabi is bidat for some, haram for others, celebrated by others.
lets not even get into muttah and misyar :D

and those are not even debates or arguments between ppl sidelined as 'mod muslims' but among the true faithful banner wavers :)

and no its not a new trend..been going on for ages..
centuries ago people even made up hadeeth to justify or support their viewpoints, thousands of supposed hadeeth were tossed out by the scholars..and that was much more worse than some joker claiming kosher jello is haram or a gold watch is halal ;)
