Blessings in your household and cuisine

Ahem.

OK, so yeah.

Lately I’ve been listening to lectures on how to bring barakah in your home. Most ulema believe that you could take simple steps to attract positivity and the blessings of God if you take care of little little things such as removing photographs of people from display as the angels don’t visit homes that have pictures up, making sure you don’t leave dirty dishes in the sink at night as they attract shayateen, etc..

Please don’t timatirfy me but I’m just trying to start a controversial discussion with a different flavor. Discuss. Not diss and cuss. Thanks :@:

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

How do those ulema define blessing of Allah(SWT) and positivity ? What is the definition of Barakah as per those ulemah ?
Will Allah remove the barakah from the houses of Muslims with photographs in their homes , but non Muslims get more barakah for doing so ? Proof is in the pudding 99.99 percent of Muslim homes have photographs in their homes and barakh too.

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

I don't know about these things much. But what I do know is that the home where a little recitation of the Quran is done on a daily basis and prayers are said...Allah's rehmat would be on that household and there would be barkat too. Same goes for the Halal earnings.

I believe that instead of going to the minutest details what some ulema say - why not start concentrating on the faraiz first ! :)

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

Ummm, barakah by some folks is defined as a state of mind...so for example, some people may be very well off but never have "enough" while some people are satified with whatever they have. So my definition would be that you have enough for yourself and your family.

Now regarding pictures, yes, most homes do have pics. So yeah, let's discuss.

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

Enigmatic, yes, faraiz should be taken care of first absolutely.

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

Niki api I know what you mean as more than 90% people have put up pictures in their homes. My question is that should there be NO pictures at all?

I do have some pictures at my place but Ive been quite careful about not having them at all on those walls facing the Qibla. But not having any pictures seems too drastic to me :(

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

People with pictures or photographs are also satisfied with their lives and are living happily ever after. Their role models are those ulemas who's pictures they see in the newspaper everyday. It gives them the peace of mind that if these ulemas have no problems with their own photographs in newspapers then there is nothing wrong with having pictures on the walls of their own homes. End of the story. Next ?

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

I am surprised they would link dishes in the sink to baraqa in the home

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

the general idea is to have a cleaner house. Napaaki of any kind would reduce the barakah

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

but dishes in the sink is not napaaki of any kind is it? That's a big stretch.

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

Yep a Muslim desi eating napaak things in their dishes ? What a moronic concept. :silly:

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

hmmm mirch m i rite to assume u got pictures framed in ur home? i mean of ur family? honestly i lovvvvvvvve to put up pics.. since i have a small cute lil baby.. plus i always loved the thought of havin marriage photos and memories photos etc but my cousin said the same thing which niks is sayin .. it is INDEED true that angels dun come in ur house if u have pictures.. i m not at all religious trust me, but i listened to her and have decided not to put any of our pics.. but i do have pics of nature thaz it. the dishes in sink sounds a bit tooooo mch maybe but not the picture part. ive heard many ppl sayin that. but so many ppl have pics at home... dusnt mean they r cursed or wud b unhapy in lifes God forbid... just that if we can avoid then why not? :) peace!

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

makes sense. but that's still a big stretch.

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

alot of women DO clean up their dishes and kitchen before sleepin but sometimes its not possible to do so everyday... but i guess maybe thaz y its said it reduces barakah cus Mohd (SWT) liked cleanliness in everything.

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

what is a big stretch, a cleaner house? :D

Everything comes back to what is possible, even in Islam, there are no absolute compulsions. Off course if the people of the house are tired or because of some other reason could not clean the dishes then its ok. Your barakah lessens when you stop putting any effort in spite of being capable

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

Oh OK, sure sure!!! haha!

Re: Blessings in your household and cuisine

I think there are alot of things we can do to increase barakah in our homes.........saying Bismillah before entering, reciting the duas of entering & leaving the home....being constant in our prayers and reciting Quran regularly...surah al Baqara, ayat al kursi.......doing good deeds together as a family...and generally just keeping the house a place where the Quran and Sunnah are followed and not allowing the things Allah dislikes and forbids...
