Al Qaeda eventually looked for recruits in the region, being the parasites they are, and they spoiled the soup, so to say. What happened in Chechnya was different...it had some characteristics of a genocide (willingness to eradicated civilian masses to kill adversaries among them), and at best was a mass murder. So things being "relatively free" is a curious comment.

Because the jury for the trial will be drawn from the public. Since that's going to be a major part of the evidence against these two, they probably don't want to give the legal defence team an opportunity to say that the jury would be prejudiced by having seen the video months before the trial without the legal defence team being able to try to counter it.
It's normal in trials to ensure that as much evidence as possible is not revealed until the trial to ensure that jury members do not enter with conclusions already made on the evidence. The defence could use that to argue that a fair trial is impossible and have a mistrial, or to at least have the most serious charges stricken.
In the case of, say, the London bombings and 9/11 bombings, since there was no trial because all the attackers were dead, all video and photos were released to the public.

In America, terrorism is terrorism, whether committed by white or brown, Christian or Muslim. The key difference is when Muslims are involved the obvious question comes up whether they are part of a wider plot involving external parties such as Al Qaeda and certain countries which in recent decades have figured prominently providing a home to such camps.
I am not a fan of Obama but he is certainly not foolish or bullheaded as his predecessor was.
And I don't know what problem you have/had with democracy, I just mentioned it to explain that in our system here in the US, nobody gets to just dictate a law - it has to go through a long and sometimes arduous process. The risks of passing laws too soon is certainly worse than taking a bit too long. You have to understand open minded diversified societies to understand that - look at UK,Canada, Australia, India as well, not just the USA. That is where Pakistan needs to evolve into to really succeed
