that is sad..there is no reason to make enemies
It is Sad and sending a wroung message about Islam
NO yaar, i couldnt agree more with taliban. i speak for truth. these statues should be demolished long ago! What is not allowed in Islam is untolerateable. You shouldnt accept half Islam. Islam says not to have pictures, statues, and idols. Well, i do take pictures, its my fault, i dont know how God will forgive me. but i dont make idols, and i think they did the right thing in demolishing them. besides, they were the cultural heritage of Afgans, its their property, they have every right to do what they want with it. Those idiots all around the world drooled over them demolishing the statues while they blocked off all the aid for the poor children and women and old. Why should the afghns care then for the west couldnt care for the lives of their people. Why should they give a damn about some stone and mud build lifeless statues?
DO YOU MEAN TO SAY, THAT THOSE STUPID IDOLS MEAN MORE TO YOU THEN THE LIVES OF THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF POOR AFGHAN CHILDREN AND WOMEN AND OLD, WHICH THE WEST DONT TAKE RESPONCIBILITY FOR? If so, i curse you man.
Speak for what is right. Dont stupport the wrong.
Saadu to enterprise: Beam me up Scotty.
its shameful and unislamic act to destroy these statues... extrmism is not allowed in Islam... middle path is recommended.. living and tolerating non-muslims is a basic essence of Islam and cause of its success...

i've heard that there is a very old (one of the earliest) copy of Quran in Russia. Now, tell me if they decide to destroy it because it threathen their religon, what are you going to say about that....
if destroying statues was allowed in Islam, they would have been destroyed long ago, when Islam first came to that part of the world. to say that these morons (talibans) know more about islam than those pioneers is stupidity..
i said what i had to say which was right for me. you dont like it? you dont agree? Fine. Good. be with that. i dont have a problem with you. nor should you.
what is wrong is wrong nomatter where, why, whatever whoever!

The statue was not in anyway near or in ISLAMIC religious place or where we MUSLIMS pray. Although, I agree that statues in Islam are not allowed, but this statue was worship place or god like figure for some. When Mohammad(pbuh) destroyed statues in Kabba, why didn't he go into every home and destroyed the statues that people were worshipping long after the conquest of Makkah? Because the statues in KABA were in ISLAMIC/MUSLIM Masjid, and in house of ALLAH.
If Taliban hate statues so much, why can't they go into every hindus home and destroy hand-made gods that the have their homes?
You cannot destroy another religious body unless it is interfering with your religion, your religious practice of prayer, and is within your religion's place of worship.

Majority of the Educated Arabs (those that have access to internet) have supported blasting of Gautam Buddha statues. The question posed on the arabia.com poll was:
Taliban's decision to destroy Buddha statues:
_Is justified
_Is horrific
_Highlights hypocrisy of the international community
The informal online poll results thus far out of 1250 voters thus far was
42%- Is justified
38%- Is horrific
20%- Highlights hypocrisy of the international community.
I can’t find the poll, could you please give us the link? Thanks.

The reason behind all this is the fact that some muslims themselves don’t have enough knowledge of Islam these days.. And in perticular these Taliban’s… I don’t mean to offend anyone..

kis in arabs ne Islam ka theka lia hua he... arabs r the worst muslims ... are just puppets of western powers...
show this poll to millions of budhists around the world !!!! thispic would create the same pain in their heart which caused in our when Babri Mosque was destroyed... we r losing so many budhists that could have been converted to muslims by such shameful acts.. Mahmood ghaznavi with lust of gold destroyed statues made of Gold... thus creating such anguish i local people that Islam never spread in South India... One can never destroy other religeous places and same time expect them to come to its fold...
I really dont think its such a big issue.
What was the statues real significance. It seems to be a cultural asset. so what.
When the Prophet Mohammad entered Makkah what did he do? he broke the statues. Are you all going to suggest that he was wrong and that he should have handed them over to the kuffar or allowed there 'airlifting'to some safe place. come on. its a non-issue.
May we all be forgiven for our sins, intentional or otherwise. Ameen

Besides makkah which had to be cleaned how many statues Prophet Muhammad broke... or Sahabas after conquesting so many countries.. if that was such a nice thing? So whats the next step all staues in Paksitans museums ??? there is so much jihad against these statues !!!!
Papa, statues that were in makkah were in the MUSLIMS/ISLAMIC place of worship. They were interfering with the Islamic way of worship and idea of single God, that is why Mohammad destroyed them. Why didn't he go into every house and destroyed the statues that were there? Because, you cannot oppress people like that, you cannot force them to give up anything in which the believe. YOU can only get what is rightly yours, and practice your religion truthfully so people would abandon those statues and come to you.

Ok so what did this ignorant act accomplish? Did it bring peace to any muslim part of the world? Or have we just added yet another reason for others to condemn Islam?
I am sure the statues weren't in any way a hindrance for the those people to practice Islam diligently. It's the faith that one possesses inside himself/herself, destroying the statues does not at all strengthen one's faith in Islam. Islam teaches tolerance, and by doing such act, only turmoil is created. And here lies yet another reason for others to looks down upon Islam.

look dude.. i don't have a problem with you. just needed a clarification of your opnion. i mean you gave the opnion, but i guess failed to see what the concequences might be of this action by the taliban.
if talibans were permited under islam to do this, can we sit back and let other ppl destroy islamic heritage that might be under the control of non-muslims now?
its simple logic..
Why did they allow this event to be 'photographed'?
As far as I remember, photgraphy, and photos are haraam as well.
Good on them. May allah give them a long life so they can free the world from these bhuths.
Watcher, i fully agree with your contention. They are not going into houses and breaking them. Infact they have stated that they will not be breaking any idols used in places of worship. The statues under discussion are not at a place of worship but are a cultural legacy. they serve no religious purpose and might in a way be an insult to Muslims (affecting them by not being within the domain of a place of worship)
Mr. Devas there is no point to be sarcastic. Hopefully you have your answer in the preceeding paragraph.
May we all be forgiven for our sins, intentional or otherwise. Ameen
