Many hardcore Muslims and militants oppose followers of the Sufi interpretation of Islam, a moderate belief system based on mysticism which they think is closer to Hinduism than Islam. That is the reason Sufis are targetted in Pakistan.

Datta darbar is not home for a particular sect it is the spiritual home of one the founding fathers of Islam in India.
Datta Ganjbaksh was a lion of Allah and his sacred site is spiritual home to people from as far as China.

LAHORE: One of the two suicide bombers who blew himself up in Data Darbar on Thursday night has been identified, Geo News quoted police sources as saying.
According to police, the bomber identified as Usman son of Yaseen, is a resident of Hadyara Barki, district Lahore and carried out blast in the basement of Data Darbar.
CCTV footage showed khadimeen of Data Darbar trying to nab Usman. Three people were killed in the blast carried out by Usman and it also paved the way for the entry of another suicide bomber.
Police said Usman was identified when his two brothers Sharif and Latif reached Data Darbar in search of him. They identified Usman through CCTV footage. Both have been arrested and shifted at undisclosed location. DNA test of the family of Usman including his detained brothers will be conducted, sources added.
No doubt. Facing ultimate defeat in Afghanistan, and grand loss of "investments", one party of historically known cowards is leaning on another party of new breed of domestic cowards to inflict damage on poor public who have nothing to do with global happenings, and were at the very most gathered at this humble shrine to get some free food after a day's labor, as is the tradition for Thursdays.
Some were probably just mothers who wanted to feed their young ones but can't afford to purchase food, some were poor kids who were bread winners for their families, and then there were those who were there to contribute towards this grand act of charity. These terrorists, their cowards handlers, and their unsuspecting defenders should remember these deaths because when their time comes, no one would be left to sympathize with them. I hope they're found, labeled, and lynched by public at-large.

Bhaijan, these seeds of twisted religious extremism were not sown after 9-11 but were sown together by USA and pakistan against USSR, ideology was borrowed from Saudi Arabia, money and arms pumped by USA and logistic support from Pak Fauj.
Pak fauj provided the required support for "Afghan Jihad", and was on the side of these Jihadis against the Infidels.
These Jihadis were not fighting against USSR, they were fighting against the infidels.... today the USSR white infidels have been replaced by USA, UK infidels and Pakistan finds itself on the side of these Infidels.

Extremly sad! From what i hear, many injured are in critical condition. The death toll is likely to rise. Why would anybody bomb a well reapected sufi shrine?

I wonder if Shahbaz Sharif is happy or sad. He is the guy who gets angry when someone even mentions the word “Punjabi Taliban”. He puts more emphasis on the word “Punjabi” instead of the word “Taliban”.

Protests against the authorities after such henous incidenst are not uncommon. After ashora blast people set the police mobiles on fire. People are right that Punjab governemt as well the whole Pakistani machinery have failed to curb terrorism, but the conclusion that some are trying to draw from it is misplaced.
And i agree with Shahbaz Shareef about this wording of “punjabi Taliban”. For 2 decades when Taleban were not in Punjab, no one used the term Pakhtoon Taleban, and when they are pushing into Punjabi, they have suddenly became Punjabi. Assigning an ethnicity to Taleban is creating divides in our own ranks.

The Punjab Police has backtracked from his early claim of declaring Rafique alias Usman as suspected suicide bomber of blasts occurred in Data Darbar.
According to a private TV channel, the Punjab Police has declared Muhammad Rafique alias Usman was not terrorist but a devotee of Data Darbar.
Muhammad Rafique (22), resident of a bordering area, Barki Hadiara paid visit to Data Darbar every Thursday and returned home after praying Friday prayer, reported the channel.
The channel while quoting police sources said that the brother, Lateef and friends of Muhammad Rafique, who were arrested, have been released.
The body of Muhammad Rafique was handed over to his family and he was buried
