Re: blasphemy laws need to be revoked
sad event...the shooter was just a kid...how can one pollute a young kid's mind so much that he goes out and kills the man inside the police station.
what a level of police training that the captives get killed in their captivity. what a dismal security lapse in and around the police station.
It's sad to see what Pakistan was in the 60s and what it's become.
Re: blasphemy laws need to be revoked
The mullah military alliance has finally ripened. The monster created in the 70s has reached its peak and is now lethal than ever. I fear for the days when people will be killed for wearing jeans or not keeping Shalwar above ankles.
Re: blasphemy laws need to be revoked
Would they stop killing people if such laws are revoked?
It is not the laws, but their application that is the major problem in Pakistan. Strong and powerful get away with anything.

I don't think it has reached its peak. It is very likely that this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Forget about the kid (well not really)!, the real injustice started when the sabzi wala called the cops on the victim on the fake charges of blasphemy. Second injustice happened when police actually put him in the jail without any investigation
Yes. As I said that injustice started with the accusation of blasphemy. If there was no such law, person would not be in the jail to begin with

People would take 'revenge' anyways. Remember 'ghazi' ilm din 'shaheed'?
Re: blasphemy laws need to be revoked
So sad and sickening to see barbaric blasphemy accusations claiming one more life. This person was a poor 65 year old, father of four. Blasphemy laws are an abomination and need to be revoked. But the government seems completely clueless and impotent in the face of growing intolerance and extremism in Pakistan. It's terrible.
Re: blasphemy laws need to be revoked
Blasphemy laws would never be revoked cuz there are parties involved which use their laws for their own benefit. Ofcourse one of them is mullahs. If there arent these laws, how'd get their halwe maande and perform their lightning speeches in mosques or roads.
Second is ofcourse political kings like leaders or army, just like recently Army turned the tables after their rift with Geo with using people like Mubashir luqman to accuse them for blasphemy.
But I think the entire blame should go to the people who hv stopped thinking from brain rather the only thing left with them is their Jazbaat. Whoever pushes them to do something, they just run after that. honestly it looks like all other problems in Paistan are fixed, so blasphemy is the only thing left now.

I want to hear views of psyah, ibne saddiq and bao bihari regarding this incident

The law encourages people to do this b/c they know they will get away with murder. In blasphemy cases mere accusation is good enough for execution (like what happened here).

I will wait to hear the complete story before making any judgement. Even from the journalist point of view, journalist should not be taking sides but should only report both sides stances on the issue, here only one side stance is given.
At the face value if this is as it is reported then indeed it is some thing sad due to poor knowledge of religion, killing some one innocent(in report there is no blashphamous event ) should not be allowed and i think some one doing this is booking a place in jahanum.
Re: blasphemy laws need to be revoked
When criminals know they can't get caught then this kind of barbaric behavior will become common. And it has.

First of all, if a person is accused, he should be given a fair chance to face the trial and present his case. How can one encourage taking law in one's hand. What is the state for. Moreover, as shamraz stated people do this since they know that they are untouchables when they kill someone on the pretext of blasphemy. If you really care about justice then blasphemy cases should be heard by unbiased and undeterred judges. If a person gets killed in the process, his murderer should be punished without fail. If a case is proved false and cooked up then the accuser should also be punished. This doesn't happen as we are a part of a rogue society.
As far as Ahmadis are concerned, it is inconceivable that anyone of them can even think of insulting the holy prophet (pbuh), Quran or any other sacred Islamic aspect or figure. The case certainly is a false one as most of the cases are.
Re: blasphemy laws need to be revoked
It is interesting that most blasphemy cases are registered under 295 B and C. There is another clause 295 A that is part of both Indian and Pakistani penal code and it states:
“Whoever, with deliberate and malicious intention of outraging the religious feelings of any class of the citizens of Pakistan, by words, either spoken or written, or by visible representations insults the religion or the religious beliefs of that class, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to ten years, or with fine, or with both.”
This law applies to all and supposed to ensure religious tolerance and avoiding hateful and derogatory remarks against other person's religion, beliefs etc. I haven't heard that 295 A was ever exercised. Why?
I agree. But at least they will not use the law to put any person behind the bar. This seems to be becoming the easiest way is sending active to jail (pretty much what kchugtai said in the image he uploaded)
