Pakistani Accused by Film Protesters of Blasphemy - ABC News

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

Ridiculous.

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

I've said it before, martial law for these nuts. Start jailing these people. It's not like Pakistanis care about free speech and the rule of law anyways.

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

Where do you live Ghost?

I am asking just in case knowing that Ghost don't live.

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

Yup,I read it today and really felt for all of us as a nation. The blasphemy charge appears to be the easiest of all. Worst thing is that its not difficult to prove it either.
Not sure when will we actually feel the need to change it.

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

This is ridiculous. Morons

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

It's the ridiculous law that needs to be eradicated. Na rahe ga baans na baje gi bansuri.

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

This is pathetic

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

Either its my way or the highway, or either you are with us or against us. This is a small minority doing this, but the whole country has become polarized to such an extent that the moderates are feeling themselves squeezed between extreme leftists and rightists.

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

simply Pathetic!

how many more will suffer or get killed by mobs due to this blasphemy law?

Its just very sad to see we have this section of society who staunchly support these laws, and dont want to see any changes in the law whatsoever, this crazy mindset will continue to flourish if dont get rid of this law.

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

The police opened the case because they felt pressured by the mob. This has nothing to do with any law save the law of the jungle.

Rather than repeal ALL blasphemy laws, I'd rather see the ban of protests by groups of people numbering over, say, 4.

No mob, no lunacy.

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

Why were things allowed to get this bad at all, maybe these mad mullahs should concentrate on the poor and destitute.

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

What can you say? These people think there can be short cuts to heaven. They think it's fine to be corrupt, not pray, lie, kidnap, kill, rape, steal as long as you can please ALLAH by killing and torturing those who might have somehow unknowingly done/said something which might be offensive to THEIR own version of Islam.

Apparently the SHO who refused to file the case was also threatened so it is not a surprise that sometimes police bow to their pressure otherwise their kids can be in danger. Then if case goes to court, the judge's life (including his family) will be in danger if judge decides to use common sense and throw the case out.
Who knows we might be even convicted of blasphemy just because we are posting this on a forum against such incidents.

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

Several were defending this law in other threads.

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

Lol I don't live in Pakistan if that's what you're wondering.

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

Yeah declare Martial law....clam down for next 10 years and rewind the tape for 30 years, both foreign policy and radicalization of the country (including outright repeal of "the law").

I don't know who can do it. At least Mushy is known to enjoy couple of chotta pegs a day. Yes, a ruthlessly moderate not an apologetic (or speak with fork tongue!!!) one like Mushy would do.

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

In case you are forgetting, Pakistan saw worst violence, radicalization in society and loss of control over its territory to extremist forces during Mush time.

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

If police can be 'forced' to do things by these fanatics, then it is either or both politicians and military supporting them.

Re: Blasphemy charge for not protesting against movie

I know that...he is an apologetic liberal...that's why he differentiated between good Jihadi vs bad Jihadi etc. Liberal inside but not want to be seen as such; because his strategic vision made him as such.

A true liberal would be principally against it, would have had the conviction to carry out what is needed. Need a national leader who people would sit up an listen. The only long term solution now seems to be that the situation has to bottom out. When people have gone off the cliff hanging by thread they might hear him, now half the population is posses by a form of radical religion.
