What are your opinions about it? This just came into my household yesterday and i must say it seems really nice. The screen and the stereo speakers are the biggest plus points for it for me.

its not launched in he US yet. Apparently they still need to fix compatibility issues with the 3G network of ATT. Expected launch late-Oct. I plan to switch to it once it comes out. Hopefully they'd price it reasonably (with contract). Rumors are for $599 which will be ridiculous.

^ its diff in the US, we have a fast data protocol called 3G like Faisal bhai mentioned... The ones available arent equipped with that. Furthermore, in the US there is no open market for cell phones, though you can still get a blackberry bold from ebay and use it, it will only go mainstream when ATT releases it.

Aisha, I was talking in general... the thing is, over the cell phone companies, like ATT release phones... In dubai or Pakistan you can just walk into a store and buy any phone whenever you want... thats why the phones here with contracts are discounted.

lol 3G is already past history in K.S.A, Kuwait and Bahrain, we're currently on 3.5G and the new upcoming TSP here will launch 3.75G in early January.
Aisha, I was talking in general... the thing is, over the cell phone companies, like ATT release phones... In dubai or Pakistan you can just walk into a store and buy any phone whenever you want... thats why the phones here with contracts are discounted.
I honestly don't like this whole package system that is implied in the west and most parts of Europe, I mean my friend bought this iPhone 3G off a shop for 95 k.d ($355) brand new boxed just because the previous owner got one off eBay and it turned out to be locked to AT&T or Verizon maybe, lol the shop keeper couldn't unlock it so he was selling it brand spanking new, my friend got it and went on the internet, did some research and in a few hours unlocked it him self, so eventually he got a new iPhone 3G for less then a price of a second hand iPhone (Kuwaiti Market).
this is one reason I can't have the T-Mobile Sidekick, I love those thing but they come locked too.

unlocked you iTouch....?, well the only thing that I can remember being called the iTouch is the iPod touch, thats a media player, I mean I didn't have to fiddle with mine to play music on it for as long as I can remember...

I have one. My company gave it to me. I didn't know it had speakers in it.

Well i am sorry if you are technologically retarded. itouch is jailbroken and unlocked same way as iphone. i touch is not just a music player it is sooo much more if you jailbreak it and add apps to it. i play games on it, i read ebooks on it, i write notes on it, i use the calendar function. it is NOT just for music and videos:rolleyes: oh i forgot! it has WIFI and SSH and it has emails functionality and oh wait! it is a photo viewer too! wow did u know that?
heck i even have an health app on it which monitor what i eat etc… wow isnt that cool!

Yeah, thats part of the deal... You have to sign up for a 2 year contract though, that gaurantees them a monthly bill, so they can afford to discount the phone.

You have to realize though, that without this 'package system', there would have been no Iphone.
Unlocking the Iphone requires some SMT soldering experience, because SMT stuff is really tiny and you have to be good at precision soldering and have to have proper equipment.
well the only thing I use it for is music and a bit of youtube and I know that its an iPhone with out the Phone bit, I don’t use it much because I don’t like it, infact I’d love shifting back to my iPod Classic!, loads better then the Touch.
so your grand father had a Kuwaiti Passport?, my Grand Father has been living here since 1955 and has Successfully bought up the family business that is being run by my dad now, and even after all these years of good fellowship with the Kuwaiti govt., he doesn’t have a Kuwaiti passport, and FYI the Lexus/Toyota Dealership that is being run by Naser Al-Sayer was actually in partner ship with my Grandfather and 2 other people from 1961 (back then it was just Toyota) to 1990 (before the war broke out and we almost lost everything), my Grandfather did wonders for this small nation but in return he got nothing.

As for you liking or not liking itouch i dont care. This thread was about BOLD not Itouch… i love itouch … i like the things i can manipulate and use to my advantage and i love the fact that with the itouch i can do that.
AND FYI iphone is short for ipod phone same way itouch is short for ipod touch:rolleyes:
