For the person going in, time appears normal, but since the gravity is much higher, time is actually slower. Say you had a watch that went beep for every second that passed for the person going into the event horizon (EH). As the person going in approaches the event horizon EH, the beeps would be farther apart, meaning time is slowing down for them. After they cross the horizon, they would get crushed, but we don’t know for sure what happens, and the watch would stop beeping (infinite amount of time between beeps).

Their image is frozen in place because right at the horizon, light can’t escape the black hole, it’s “stuck” in place at the horizon, and any light bouncing off you after you cross the EH, light that shows you going into the hole, is actually getting sucked in with you, so no image past the EH is visible. That’s why it’s called the EH. It’s just the range beyond which light can’t escape.
