**ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party observed a black day on Sunday to commemorate the anniversary of the military coup by General Ziaul Haq who toppled the elected government of PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on July 5, 1977.**
Seminars, rallies, talk shows, declamation contests and walks were held across the country.
At seminars and meetings held to mark the day, PPP leaders and workers said Z.A. Bhutto was punished for raising his voice for the rights of people and making Pakistan a nuclear power.
The said that Z.A. Bhutto sacrificed his life while fighting against the dictatorship and refusing to compromise on principles.
They paid rich tribute to the PPP leadership and workers who remained united in the face of challenges and put the country back on the road to democracy.
President of Pakistan and PPP Co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari said in a message on the occasion that July 5 would always be remembered as one of the darkest days in the history of the country that spawned tyranny, oppression and militancy on the one hand and dismantled the Constitution and democratic institutions on the other.
‘The dismantling of democratic structures that began on July 5, 1977 reminds how one military dictator nurtured extremists for his political survival and how another dictatorship exploited the same extremists by running with the hare and hunting with the hound again for perpetuating himself in power.’
‘Let us vow to banish from the Constitution all undemocratic insertions made by the dictators from time to time.’—APP
^^^ I guess it was Just PPP against a particular dictator, Zardari was saying that all dictators dead or alive should be punished, i don't know what is stopping him to punish Pervaiz Musharaf or what is stopping him to condemn Ayoub and Yehya...
anyway our politics is led by some biggest hypocrates of our times..
Extremism
MQM
Corruption
Pitho-ism
Lies and false promises
Dictatorship, supression of the media, civil society and politicians
Musharraf, proved to be another Zia when he pretty much did everything Zia did. For instance, he might not have created the MQM, that honor goes to Zia, but he certainly nurtured the snakes.

Zia is the one who brought Pakistan fully under the influence of Saudi ideology of supporting freaks like Taliban.
He is the one who started all the mess that Pakistan is in today.

It's unfair to put the blame of mard-e-momin shaheed. He wanted us to become good muslims and live observing Al-Sunnah- exact reasons why Pakistan was created in the first place. Hazrat Muhammed sallah allah alieh wa salam and his sahabas were condemned when they fought Kuffar and brought light to the Arab tribes. Shaheed Zia wanted to propagate his teachings and so did our founder, Quaid-e-Azam. We should be following prophet(saw)'s lifestyle and teachings and try to become simple. These days when I found women without burqah and guys without beard in Pak, I feel disgusted. We should not try to become modern, but be good muslims.

so did Shaheed Zia follow the sunnat of long beard? were his pants/trouser/shalwar above ankle? I don't think that was true, so what sunnah was he following himself? Please, go and post in jokes section, thanks.

Shaheed Zia used to have stubbles all the time if not long beard- I am not sure why he did not have long beard- maybe because of pimples or something- I am not sure. If you see his pics, he used to wear Shalwar.
Abdullah Bin Ubai was more parsa than Zia, but he was condemned in Quraan because of his hypocracy. Perhaps Zia was second to munafiq Ubai. He ruined institutions of democracy, judiciary corrupted police, army, civil services etc. He flogged poor people in the name of Islam and tornished the relegion to perpetuate his tyrant power.
He illegally took over kicking democracy and constitution in gutter and murdered elected PM of Pakistan. He involved in Afghan war without realizing what kind of venture he was involved and what hell he was creating for the future generations. His hawaris were equally responsible for creating jehadis, drugs and AK42 culture. Created MQM the urban terrorist organization who is now biting the a$$e$ of who took part in its creation.
He and his hawaris were burnt in the air over cholistan desert. He met his fate what he desrved. His soul must still be burining in hell fire.
So Zia started all evil, what have they politicians done since his departure to amend that?
I agree, politicians are not innocent, but he destroyed the institutions that are needed for any society to function properly. He also brainwashed entire generation of our people in the name of Islam, and turned them into what they're today...homicidal killers. We're paying for his crimes & will continue to pay for long time to come.

Kakey, you are forgetting one important fact- he prevented Pakistan from being consumed by Communist Soviet Union. He made Pakistani defense strong and at one point made Half-Hindu Rajeev Ghandi p** in his pants. The fact is that he wanted Sharia to be the law of the land- which is what majority of Pakistanis want for the future except expatriats and modern crowd of Karachi. Yaar, my relatives where and are in the army and they tell me that the guy was not only mentally and physically strong, but he had the blessings of Allah(swt)- a true brave commando and a brave heart. May he RIP.
