yes, sufis follow the pir for the sake of seeking guidance. There are heads in Tableeghi jama’at too, whose orders are to be followed (including not giving contact numbers to the family of preacher).

I was reading tafseer of last rukoo of Sura-e- Al Hadeed and that contains many accounts of Christian saints who chose to be part of church and followed Ruhbaniyat by disowning families and when I hear these incidents of leaving families behind disconnected and dependent on others, I ask myself ‘What is the difference between those saints and today’s preachers’?

Sufis did same as Rahbaniayt. better is if you ask “‘What is the difference between those sufis and today’s preachers’”
