Without knowing your budget or what’s possible in USA, here are a few of my ideas:

• A surprise weekend trip for just the two of you - preferably a place he likes/enjoys
• Experience gifts like helicopter trip as co-pilot or parachute jump or test driving a Ferrari or learn to dive?
• Tickets for sports game if he is into that.

I really like the suggestions above. Experience gifts are amazing and the receiver remembers them for years to come.
