Re: Birth Stories

Oh gosh don’t be worried!! every hospital has horror stories. The NHS has the most advanced skills on their books.

Its up to you if you like the wards etc in the hospital near you. For me when i do have a baby ( InsAllah) i would not go to the hospital near my fiance’s house ( its a 5 min walk ) as i do not like it and would not feel comfortable going there. However the hospital i was born in.. i’d go there. I’ve already decided 1 month prior to the birth i’d go home to mum :d

Re: Birth Stories

I had my little boy a year ago..

I was due on 27 Oct. but didn't go into labour.. the waiting for when the baby will come was exhausting.. The midwives came to my house to check up on me and then made an appointment to get induced.. if the baby doesn't arrive in ten days.. then made app. on 07 Nov.
Then days went past with no sign of the baby making its way to this world..
It was 07 Nov and Me and my husband we went to the hospital to get induced. When I got there they said they will induce me and keep me in antenatal ward until signs of contractions and then they will take me to labour ward.
The did the inducing with a tablet.. and stuff... The whole day went past with no sign of contraction.. just mildly feeling pains.. but nothing serious.. The midwife told me to walk around as much as I can to make sure the baby makes its way downwards..
Then still no sign.. at 20.00 hrs. I felt a bit heavier pain which made me walk like hell.. Then the midwife came and checked.. I have only dilated 1cm my reaction was 'Oh my god?! Will it take this much time for each cm.?' anyway.. she advised me to have a warm bath.. I resisted in the beginning but she assured me.. I will fill the bath for you and you can lie down and relax.. and your husband can sit with you.. so I agreed..
I got into bath.. nice warm and relax.. my husband said you go and relax.. and I'll watch TV (there was a tv in my ward and I was alone so could watch watever I wanted) When I got into the bath and relaxed.. the door opened and my husband came.. I asked why? and he said.. the midwife told him.. your wife needs you more then the TV ..

I stayed in bath for good 2 hrs... and then got fed up of the waiting.. when I came out.. it was 22.00 hrs. still on 07 Nov. and no signs.. The checked me and I had dilated another half a cm 'yay!' then they said to me that I will have to spend the night in Antenatal and then In the morning they will see how much I have dilated.. and they sent my husband back home.. and told him they will call him when its time.. at home my parents came to visit me few days before.. so they were eagerly waiting as well.. The midwife gave me a painkiller so I could sleep for some time but.. All night long I was moving and the pain wouldn't get worse.. or calm down..
Then the next day 08 Nov. in the morning at 07.00 I said to them... I can't wait any longer.. take me to the labour room. They agreed.
The midwife packed my stuff and called my husband to come over and took me to labour room..
There the midwife broke my water and said now we have to wait for the contractions.. they also tied me up to machines to check baby heartbeat and my contractions..

the contractions started to come but very irregular... some of them slow and some of them quick.. Then when it got out of control I started gas&air.. it felt like i was drunk.. I was asking the midwife how long but she didn't understand what i was saying.. then I told my husband.. but he didn't either so I started to swear at them as they didn't understand anyway.. the doctors were coming in and out of the room to check but still no sign.. the last time I looked at the time it was 12 O' clock at noon and I don't remember anything after that.. I fainted and when I woke up.. it was 16.00 hrs... and there was a cute little baby at my bedside..

When I asked my husband what happened he said.. 'you fainted and the doctors were losing our babies heart beat so they did a emergency caesarean'

that my story.. when my baby was born he was 9 lbs MashAllah..

Re: Birth Stories

I walked every single day from 7 months onwards.. I love walking in parks.. or just shopping.. so did it every single day.. but my little one decided to come when he wanted to.. 10 days after my due date.. and that only when i got induced.. so i don't believe in walking anymore.. but I guess its different for everyone.. for one walking does the job and for another hot milk with olive oil does the job...

Trust me when you get over your due date you'd try anything to go into labour.. the tips people gave me.. pfff.. but alhamdulillah.. I would do it all over again if i had to.. :D

Re: Birth Stories

Aww great story. Thanks for sharing.

I loved the bit when your Husband came back because the midwife said your wife needs you more than the TV! Hilarious!!! Couldn't stop laughing.

Re: Birth Stories

A very simple birth story from me :)

On November 15ht..... 2 days before my due date, my water broke at 1:00 am, hubby took me to the hospital..... I was only 3 cms dilated but they admitted me since I was leaking water all over lol
Got an epidural around 3:30 am, no pain after that..... they kept checking me, everything was progressing slowly but smoothly. I napped for a couple of hours on and off, started feeling pressure around 7 am, they checked and I was 9.5 cms dilated, around 8:15 I reached full 10cm, they could see the baby's head. I delivered my princess at 8:30 am. Alhamdulillah everything went so smooth.... I have no side effects from the epidural, not even a headache. Great experience altogether, Alhamdulillah.

Re: Birth Stories

Re: Birth Stories

How long would you walk for daily e.g 30 mins walk etc? Also how long was your labour and what was your experience like?

I'm pregnant and have just a few weeks to go. Suffering from SPD but trying to walk as much as I can because elders are saying it will help in labour.

Re: Birth Stories

Wow - Mashallah! You had a great experience.

I hope I have the same experience as you! What a dream come true that would be! Many congrats as well.

Re: Birth Stories

I'd walk for hours.. especially when i'd go to shopping centre.. i'd go in the morning tenish.. and then return by 1 or 2 in the afternoon. one thing.. i'd just walk relaxed and from shop to shop.. day dreaming, shopping i'd sit down if my feet were killing.. then i'd get up and go on.. one day i returned 4 in the afternoon.. my mum thought i lost my way back home.. but i was just so into walking that i was on and on.. and i remember that day my feet were killing me more than anything..
i walked alot but it didn't help me.. because my labour didnt come natural.. i had to be induced 10 days after my due date.. and it still didn't go smoothly.. in the end it turned out to me an emergency c-section.. baby and i were in danger.. but all turned out fine.. alhamdulillah..

a friend of mine she got overdue and she specifically asked her husband to go out to a big huge park.. and walk there for hours.. and hours.. she did this 3/4 days continuously and then 5 day in the morning before she knew she was in labour and had her little baby in her arms..

i would advise that if you don't like walking or you get tired quickly.. let your husband know to take you to a park and have a nice long romantic walk together.. if not possible then walk in your local streets with mp3 player or something to keep you going.. and if you like shopping.. then go for it while you can.. once the baby is here.. you won't have some 'me' time.. especially in the beginning.. ;)

Re: Birth Stories

Thanks for the advice!!

Will defo' remind Hubby about the romantic walk in the park as I hate walking in month 8 and need a good motivation such as that!
