Talking of birth control…does it matter if you take birth control pills even if you are not sexually active??? For other benefits. What are the side effects if any?

I am sure there are plenty of different opinions on this issue. But no. According to a very dominant view, it is not haraam to use birth control. Abortions, well thats another issue.

SaadiaB, not at all. However the issue is in debate since one is encouraged to have as many kids as possible.

Withdrawal of penis before ejaculation is something the prophet encouraged if a couple was not under the right circumstances to have children.

And today's economy doesn't allow one to have 10 kids. I'm sure God understands that.

This is true, and if birth control is in fact haram, then I wonder how different this method is (in religious terms) from lets say using a condom, since the goal of both methods is to prevent sperm from entering the vagina.

please also read when the rooh is supposed to enter. its at a later state of fetus development when its considered something with a rooh.

otherwise there are millions of sperms who dont make it, and one who makes it and even thats not every time..surely they are not rooh being wasted.

i am not against Birth Control... and i know when the rooh is blowed in the featus.. i was just making a point no matter how much is done to control the world population, while ppl can plan to control a nice small family, humans are destined to come in this world already:)
