Should it be available over the counter (run of mill type pills, not the kind that require more monitoring or shots)?
And do you agree with birth control being covered by taxes under Obama Care?

No they should not cover by taxes. For most of the part, it’s a choice and choices should not be a burden on taxpayers.

Re: Birth Control
the poor single-mom kinds are most likely to be the ones who would not get contraceptives because they want to save 30 dollars a month. no contraception = more large poor households who will need tax payer money in welfare. and that will be more than $30 per family.
if amreeki tax payers can pay for sending million dollar bombs all around the world, what is some measly birth control pills that will save it money in the long run?
Re: Birth Control
When you live in a country that has social system program (albeit, a not so great one) that is funded by tax payers money, what would you as a taxpayer rather pay for: birth control or social assistance?
I believe that many organizations give out free condoms to adults who otherwise cannot afford them. The help should stop right there. Unprotected sex without the intention of conceiving is an act whose responsibility should be upon the participants and they should be burdened by the consequences, not you and me.

I would pay for educating people, and then social assistance. In case of assistance, even the single parent is sharing the responsibility of raising the kid. Providing birth control assistance would give people a free ride to go and have irresponsible physical relationship whenever and wherever they want to.
Re: Birth Control
No I dont think birth control (as in pills) should be available over the counter. Its some serious stuff …
Re: Birth Control
this is fair. however, the amreeki system already pools together taxpayer money to help those who have lead irresponsible lives, eaten their way into metabolic syndrome etc. why start this idea of accountability on something like birth control which will affect babies etc., and not say.. diabetics or atherosclerotic people who are covered by welfare plans like medicare and medicaid?
Re: Birth Control
where will it stop queer? then every other medium that can be used to potentially discourage unwanted birth should be supportef by the tax dollars. porn, prostitution, chastity belts … everything.
Re: Birth Control
cost to benefit ratio. 30 bucks spend covering the option for women to get free birth control pills would probably give more bang for the buck than buying teens porn or prostitutes (prostitutes will need birth control too OMGZ).
but really, the US already subsidizes all kinds of choice based and whimsical things from health care to religions with no measurable return to society. this is one place where it will be beneficial right away.
Irrelevant…!
I understand your point queer, but to me it still sounds like the imposing of “don’t drink and drive” law, so instead of punishing people when they drink and drive, we start giving them cab fare from tax dollar to avoid drink and drive scenario.
Re: Birth Control
It’s probably cause punishing people isn’t as effective as giving them a safer option. If the punishments worked, no one would drink and drive. And it’ not like people are given cab fares all year round. Would you rather they take a cab home with your money, or they bang up your brand new car while they’re high.
Re: Birth Control
The healthcare in the United States is nothing to be proud of. Birth Control and a whole lot more should be covered by government funded healthcare, or are these the medieval times where the saying goes survival of the fittest.
Re: Birth Control
Absolutely not! Birth control is NOT a one size fit all kind of a cold/allergy product. It varies with each individual. Each variety of birth control pill has a different level of hormone and every person will react to it differently. You can’t sell hormones over the counter without any physical exam and/or medical history on file and there is also a huge risk of pulmonary embolisms and blood clots from birth control pills. I understand that the idea of making them over the counter is so we can prevent unwanted pregnancies and make them available for women that cannot afford insurance or are too lazy to go in for a health exam but impact of birth control pills can also be very negative for some women including breast cancer from prolong use. Women on birth control need to be monitored by a physician from time to time.
Re: Birth Control
I suggest we have an “amreeka forum” all those non issue things
which amreekans want to talk over and over and over and over…
with news references, politician names .. then talk about issue which is never
going to effect them ..over and over and over and over…
Can go in that new forum ![]()

Re: Birth Control
Let us just take the example of a married couple living below the poverty level. Who have two kids and don’t want or cant afford more. What would make sense for them?
